The Department of Geography at Kent State University invites applications for a tenure track faculty position
at the rank of assistant professor or associate professor in Geographic Information Science with a
specialization in web-based GIS, spatial programming,and geospatial modeling. Ideal candidates will have a
Ph.D. in Geography or a related field by the time of appointment. The position will begin in August 2013.
Faculty in the Department of Geography are highly productive researchers who have demonstrated success
in attracting substantial grants and contracts to support their research programs. The department has a
strong graduate program with over 30 doctoral students and 20 master’s students. The Department of

Successful applicants will be expected to develop highly productive research programs, secure extramural
funding, engage in collaborative research, direct theses and dissertations, and exhibit a commitment to
excellence in undergraduate and graduate education.
