JUNIORS & SENIORS: Be careful what you post on FACEBOOK. Ten percent of college admissions officers
acknowledged looking at social-networking sites to evaluate applicants for admissions. Thirty eight percent said
their views of the applicant were negatively affected by what they saw. Don’t ruin your chances of being accepted
to the college of your choice.
V.
SENIORS - If you get a higher score on your ACT, stop by the office and remind us to send your new score to any
colleges where you have mailed an application. Higher ACT scores could determine academic scholarship money
offered by the college where you plan to attend.
VI.
SENIORS - Just another reminder about getting at least three teacher recommendations. Stop by the Counselor’s
office and ask if you still need recommendations. Don’t forget that this is for any student who is applying for
scholarship money.
VII.
SENIORS – The counseling office will be holding a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
workshop on Feb. 8th at 6:00 p.m. at John F. Hodge High School. This workshop will actually help you and
your parents complete a FAFSA application and answer any questions you might have. We will have
financial aid experts on hand to help you with this process. If you are planning to attend we ask that you
obtain a PIN number online at www.fafsa.ed.gov and bring that number with you that evening of the
workshop. The FAFSA forms require information from your 2009 tax return student and parent social
security numbers and your driver’s license number. If you and your parents would like to attend the
