Your background in these languages is taken into consideration in reviewing your application. Reading
competence in foreign languages is not a requirement for admission into the graduate program, but there
are language requirements for completing both the M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in art history. Please see the
departmental requirements for more specific information on language requirements.
For applicants for whom English is not your first language, an official TOEFL score must be submitted
with your application. A score of 550 (paper) or 213 (computer) is the minimum for admission.
