Admission Requirements
Regardless of educational background, all applicants
to undergraduate programs must have specific
prerequisite subject knowledge for their intended
program of study. The prerequisite subjects for each
program and other program‑specific requirements
are listed at: www.uoit.ca/programs/.
The specific average or standing required for
admission varies from year to year. Students are
selected by taking into consideration a wide range
of criteria including your school marks, distribution
of subjects taken, and relevance to the academic
program. Meeting the minimum requirements does
not guarantee acceptance. Preference will be given
to applicants with the best qualifications.
You must have an Ontario Secondary School
Diploma (OSSD) with a minimum of six 4U/M credits
or equivalent, including credits and courses to satisfy
the academic prerequisites of specific programs. You
must also present a competitive admissions average.
UOIT will use the highest grade obtained in a course
to calculate your admissions average.
If your grades were affected by exceptional
circumstances that you can document, you are
encouraged to contact the Registrar’s office with
the appropriate information. For information about
what constitutes an exceptional circumstance, visit:
www.uoit.ca/considerations/
English‑Language Requirements
You must provide proof of English‑language
proficiency. Refer to: www.uoit.ca/englishproficiency/.

Financial Assistance
The Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP)
provides financial assistance to supplement your
financial contributions to your education. You may
apply online at: https://osap.gov.on.ca/.
By completing an OSAP application, you are
automatically assessed for loan assistance from
both the federal and provincial governments,
including 30 percent off Ontario tuition. To see if
you are eligible for this grant, visit: www.ontario.ca.
If you are a Canadian student applying from
provinces outside of Ontario, you should contact the
financial assistance agencies in your home province.
There is also a substantial bursary program to aid
students facing financial hardships. From emergency
funds to long term assistance, the university works
with you to find solutions through bursaries and/
or on‑campus employment opportunities suited to
your individual circumstances.
For further information about financial assistance,
visit our website at www.uoit.ca/safa/ or call

Scholarships and Awards
UOIT acknowledges the accomplishments of
many students admitted to the university through
the presentation of awards of recognition for
outstanding academic achievement. These awards
are given to students entering directly from a
Canadian high school. An application is not required.
In addition, we recognize students’ academic
achievements during their undergraduate program.
If you achieved a minimum 3.7 GPA (on a 4.3 scale)
during the previous year and are returning to full‑time
study, you are automatically awarded a scholarship.
UOIT also offers scholarships that require completion
of an application. The Founder’s, President’s and
Chancellor’s scholarships are awarded based on
academic achievement, demonstrated leadership
and community involvement. These scholarships are
renewable and are valued from $24,000 to $36,000.
Applications must be submitted by February 29, 2016.
In support of the FIRST mission, UOIT is offering the
FIRST Robotics Canada (FRC) Scholarship, a $12,000
merit‑based scholarship. Applications for this
scholarship must be submitted by March 31, 2016.
Applications and detailed information about UOIT
scholarships and awards are available at:

your application for one year. When an application
is deferred, it is reassessed for admissibility on a
competitive basis in the relevant admission period.

form can be found at www.uoit.ca/deferral/.
