FINCA’s Client Assessment Fellowship offers students and young professionals the unique
opportunity to spend 10 weeks working in the field to help FINCA better understand the
effects that financial services have on our clients. Fellows use the FINCA Client
Assessment Tool (FCAT) to collect social performance data that is input into a handheld
Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) device. Fellows are expected to carry out and present initial
findings prior to rigorous analyses carried out at FINCA headquarters in Washington, DC.

3. Mickey Leland International Hunger Fellowship

The Mickey Leland International Hunger Fellowship is a unique leadership development
opportunity for experienced, motivated individuals seeking to make a difference in the
struggle to eliminate hunger and poverty worldwide. This two-year program begins with a
one-year field placement in countries throughout Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Fellows
are assigned to national and international non-governmental organizations, private sector
entities, and bi-lateral and multi-lateral organizations. Fellows spend their second year in a
policy environment, usually at the headquarters of the organizations where they served
during their field placements. Field and policy assignments, closely coordinated, are designed
to be complementary.
4. REACT Fellowship – Save the Children

REACT is an eight month-long fellowship that gives individuals who are interested in a
career in international emergency relief an opportunity to increase their overseas experience
and gain exposure to our programs. Fellows will be provided formal training at our Home
Office and hands-on experience working in country offices. The goal of the REACT
fellowship is to place Fellows in positions where they can draw on their previous education
and work experience, while broadening their skills in emergency response. While post

1. Capital City Fellows Program

The Capital City Fellows Program (CCFP) is a mayoral initiative to attract recent graduates
of master's degree programs in public administration, public policy, urban planning and
related fields to work for the city of Washington, DC. Candidates compete for two-year
fellowship appointments during which they complete four six-month rotations in different
city agencies. In addition to on-the-job training in their host agencies, Fellows are given
unique opportunities to meet with high-level city officials and participate in educational and
professional development seminars. The program prepares Fellows to meet the challenges of
local government public service and develops management talent for the city.
2. Department of the Treasury Hamilton Fellows Program

The Hamilton Fellows Program is designed to attract outstanding individuals, from a

The Office of Policy Fellowship is designed to develop the next generation of leadership
within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Fellows are recruited from the nation’s

direct assistance to top policymakers throughout the Department and will work side-by-side

4. Pennsylvania Management Associates Program – Suspended until further notice

The PMA program helps the commonwealth develop highly effective managers and
innovative leaders throughout state government. This 12-month, on-the-job management
training program and six-month probationary period are designed for graduates of master's

earned a master's degree in any field of study are eligible. The program prepares candidates
for careers in mid-and upper-level management within the commonwealth. During the
program, associates participate in intensive on-the-job and specialized training, rotational

are well equipped to meet the challenges of public service, ensuring that Pennsylvania will
have effective and innovative managers in the future.
5. Presidential Management Fellows (PMF)

The most prestigious hiring program offered by the federal government. Bearing the
Presidential moniker, the PMF Program is a flagship leadership development program at the
entry level for advanced degree candidates. It was created more than three decades ago by
Executive Order and has gone through many changes over the years. The Program attracts
and selects the best candidates possible, but is really designed with a more narrow focus developing a cadre of potential government leaders. It provides some sustenance during the
first years of employment and encourages development of leadership capabilities. The PMF
Program inculcates a lasting bond as well as a spirit of public service, ultimately encouraging
and leading to a career in the government.

For many years, the Public Management Institute (PMI) has served as an important vehicle
for bringing exceptional individuals with the capacity for leadership to careers in New York
State government. Through carefully crafted job assignments, coupled with relevant training
experiences, the PMI prepares participants with master's degrees in public administration or a
related field for management positions of increasing responsibility within State agencies.
During the two-year program, interns serve in a professional position within a State agency.
In addition to on-the-job learning, interns experience specialized training, rotational

components have been designed to provide the interns with the tools for building a
management career in New York State government. Unlike typical short-term internships,
