Awards night at the Cayman National Cultural Foundation
during the recent 16th annual GIMISTORY FESTIVAL
Visitor recipients were U.S husband and wife storytelling team Barry Marshall and Jeri Burns - the
“Storycrafters”, 15 timer Jamaican folklorist Amina Blackwood-Meeks, Trinidadian Calypso performers David
Bereaux and Friends, and Extempo Calypsonian supreme Philip Murray “Blacksage”. Local storytellers
receiving award citations included Lady Rabia, Quincy Brown, Priscella Pouchie and teenager Jevaughnie
Ebanks.
The Gold Award, which is the highest possible award of the CNCF, was given to the perennial (all 16 of the
festivals) Guyana/USA versatile entertainer Ken Corsbie.
