Calvary University provides a great avenue for our
vision to be fulfilled. We have a wonderful line-up of
electives and class choices to help get you prepared
to impact your world for Christ each and every week!
We have classes and groups to equip people at all
stages of discipleship and life; from the New Believer
to the seasoned Saint!
Whether you’re making great personal strides in
your spiritual walk or if you’re going through a season of spiritual struggle, there are classes and small
groups that will encourage and equip you to attain
new heights as you grow and succeed.
If you are not currently plugged into a class, I would
like to encourage you to get involved this month!
May would be a great time to start because we have
several 4-week electives that will bless you tremendously before we head into summer.
And before you go to your class, I would love to have
you join me in the Chapel at 9AM each Sunday to
pray for our church and the ministries that are taking
place that day!
Your Pastor,
Ed Garvin

Classes &
Small Groups
Jim Till is a native of Montgomery, AL. He
has spent 27 years in fulltime ministry, the
last 18 in Washington DC. He and his wife
Nora have been members of Calvary Assembly for three years and they are actively involved in the Transitions ministry.
Class Title: Philippians, Paul’s Joy Book
Paul wrote this short letter to the Philippians while in Prison, a
place that would challenge the spirit of the strongest optimist.
Paul writes about the joy of the Christian life. The concept of
rejoicing, or joy; appears 16 times and the pages radiate the light
of joy out of the darkest circumstances. Spend the month of May
with Jim and learn how to make joy a trademark of your life.
Steve Paquet is a familiar face around
Calvary Assembly! Steve and his wife
Carol serve on the greeters team and
work with the SALT group. Their two
children, Jeff & Jenny are also very involved in ministry at Calvary.
Steve is starting a New Believer’s Class
and it will be a great place to help people who have recently invited Jesus to be their Savior to learn
how to start serving Him as Lord. We will answer basic questions
about prayer, the Bible, and the church. Anyone can join this
class at any time.
Nollie S. Shaw invites you to His class:
Overcomers. Nollie has been teaching Sunday School for over 15 years. Through the
use of personal insight, strong exegesis, and
lots of classroom interaction; Nollie will
make sure you get a weekly dose of Truth
from God’s Word to help you remain victorious in all of life’s challenges.
For Women Only… Conditions of the Heart
Marshell Siplin invites the women of Calvary
Assembly to check out this opportunity.
An interactive, topical Bible study for women.
Participants can expect to
 have great weekly discussion on Scripture
 reflect on both the spiritual and physical conditions of the
Heart
 personally reflect, share and pray for one another
 be challenged to work on things during the week to enhance the
principles & discussion from the class.
Marshell is a Certified Licensed Minister and a true people person.
She serves on the Women's Ministries’ Core Team of Calvary.
The Circle Maker— Many of
you have heard about or
read the book by Mark
Batterson. According to the
author, “Drawing prayer
circles around our dreams isn’t just a mechanism whereby we accomplish great things for
God. It’s a mechanism whereby God accomplishes great things in us.” Do you ever sense
that there’s far more to prayer, and to God’s
vision for your life, than what you’re experiencing? Then we invite
you to spend the month of May with Maria Nistri who will be facilitating this class!
The Heritage Class is taught by Willie E. Nelson
For Men Only… Man In The Mirror
Neil Graubner serves on the leadership team
for the Men’s Ministries of Calvary University
and is passionate about seeing men reach
their full potential as Christ followers.
He is working with Patrick Morley’s Man in the Mirror organization
that emphasizes discipleship and equips men to live out the Truth
of the Gospel in every one of his environments: home, school,
work, church, community, etc.
Ruthie Williams serves as Senior Chaplain at
33rd Street Jail. She is passionate about helping people Cultivate Their Faith. In fact,
“Cultivating Your Faith” is the name of her
class.
Ruthie is a passionate communicator who loves helping her students apply the truth of God’s Word and learn how to feed themselves from God’s Word so that their spiritual growth can be guaranteed despite the challenges life might throw at you!
Willie is a man who loves to share the Word and
take the foundational doctrines of the faith and present them in a relevant way that makes sense for
today! This is another good option for your May!
