Assignment
The assignment for the first day of class is to lightly read Arts. I & II of the Constitution, and
carefully study Art. III (the Constitution is available at Appendix A of your text). Then read pp.
1-14 of the Gunther & Sullivan text. You will want to read Marbury v. Madison once, then once
again carefully, then perhaps even once again for good measure. It is a difficult and important
case. In the remaining text, take note of note 5 and discussion of Federalist 78.
