 FEES AND CHARGES 2016 ADMISSION FEES Application Fee A non‐refundable application fee for 3 year old to year 6 of $75, and years 7‐12 of $100 is to be paid with the application form for enrolment at St Brigid’s College. Acceptance Fee A non‐refundable acceptance fee for 3 year old to year 6 of $100, and years 7‐12 of $200 is payable on acceptance of the first child of a family at St Brigid’s College. Entrance Deposit A refundable entrance deposit of $300 for boarding students is also payable on acceptance of a place in the boarding section and is held for the duration of the student’s education. ACCOUNT PAYMENT OPTIONS St Brigid’s College offers families two different options to pay their school fees. Initial accounts will be forwarded by mail in January 2016. Families will then be provided with the information to select their preferred payment option. These payment options are: OPTION ONE: ONE ANNUAL FEE PAYMENT (Default Option) One payment due on or before Friday 5 t h February 2016. OPTION TWO: DIRECT DEBIT ‐ 10 MONTHY PAYMENTS Ten equal payments payable monthly January to October inclusive. On request and with approval from the accounts department, direct debits can be amended to weekly or fortnightly to suit your situation. If you intend to pay your College fees account by a method other than one of the two options offered by the College, you will need to inform the Accounts Department of your payment plan and confirm that your account will be settled in full by Friday 28th October 2016. The tutors are private music tutors; hence, the College accepts no responsibility for issues involving students, parents and tutors. Please make payments payable to the appropriate music tutor. Semester fees are for 16 half hour lessons. The School is able to offer instrument hire to those students as required. Fees for 2016 are: Annual Semester Year 1–12 Instrument Hire $200 $100 CONCESSIONS AND REBATES Fee Concessions In keeping with the Mercy ethos of St Brigid’s College, fees and charges are kept to a minimum. Where parents are experiencing financial difficulties and where families hold Health Care cards, concessions are available. Please contact the College’s Accounts Department with fee concession enquiries. Please note that the concession only applies to kindergarten to year 12 tuition fees and applications must be submitted to the College by Friday 15th April 2016. Any valid request received after this date will receive a pro‐rata discount on the fees for the year. Rebates A reduction in Tuition and Boarding fees applies for students attending St Brigid’s College where a brother or sister attends. For 2016, the following rebates will be reflected in accounts: Place in Family 1 2‐3 4 5 and over Reduction in Fees 0% 20% 50% 100% GOVERNMENT FUNDING The Federal and State governments pay subsidies to the school on the basis of enrolment numbers at dates set by them from time to time. The annual fee has been calculated after the College has taken receipt of Government funding into consideration. GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE TO PARENTS Assistance for Isolated Children Scheme (AIC) The Australian Government provides assistance in the form of boarding allowances to the parents of children who, because of the geographic isolation of their homes, do not have reasonable access to a government school offering a course in the appropriate year of primary or secondary schooling. For advice on how to apply please go to: www.centrelink.gov.au/internet/internet.nsf/payments/isolated_children.htm For 2015, the annual allowance paid was $7,897 and additional allowances may be available subject to a family income test. Travel Allowance Four return journeys home are provided each year to boarders whose parents live in certain areas of WA. Please go to www.transport.wa.gov.au/aboutus/19683.asp for information and application forms. INSURANCE It is strongly recommended that parents check their health and general insurance policies to ensure adequate medical, personal property and liability insurance cover for their children. The College cannot accept responsibility for medical expenses arising from accident or illness, loss of or damage to personal effects and property or liability incurred by students for bodily injury or property damage. Student Accident Insurance The College Board provides a comprehensive accident insurance package for our students. The benefits payable under the policy have been designed to protect families from a catastrophic situation and assist them to cope with the inevitable financial impact should a student be seriously injured. St Brigid’s College students are covered worldwide, 24 hours a day, every day of the year. The cover is not restricted to school activities but will lapse when the student permanently leaves the School. Please note that this policy does not cover medical expenses. Under current legislation, these expenses are met by Medicare and your private health insurer. The cover also has no impact on potential public liability, third party vehicle or negligence claims that might be made on behalf of a student. The cover would be in addition to any such claim. Boarders Insurance A contents insurance policy of $20,000 is recommended for boarders and is available through the College at an annual cost of $80. This policy has a claim excess of $50. To affect cover please register your interest with the College’s Accounts Department. NOTICE OF WITHDRAWAL DAY STUDENTS In the event of a student withdrawing from the College, one term’s fees will be charged unless the Principal receives written notice of withdrawal, at least one term in advance. BOARDERS Due to the difficulty in filling boarding places during the course of the year, boarders may be withdrawn only at the end of a semester. The Principal must receive written notification of withdrawal at least one semester in advance. This rule also applies if a boarder wishes to become a day student. In lieu of adequate notice, a semesters boarding fee will be charged. The College Board reserves the right to alter Fees and Charges, as circumstances require.
