Q3 Class 4A (Alicia, Ryan, Dylan, Jamie, Justin) Score: 3/7 ∙ ACH‐ ache. An oversupply causes muscle contractions, convulsions and possible death. Overall, it makes you ACHE! E.g.: black widow bit ∙ GABA‐ JABBA the hut. Oversupply causes anxiety and Huntington disease. Jabba calls bounty hunters (Huntington disease) and inhibits other ∙ Serotonin‐ over supply causes restlessness, nausea, vomiting. Sarah Pailin overdosed on Prozac because her daughter got knocked up. Pregnancy and oversupply of serotonin have similar symptoms. ∙ Endorphins‐ dolphin. Over supply of endorphins makes you elated and relieved of pain. Dolphins can make you happy (good feeling). Protect you against other sea animals (pain relief). ∙ Glutamate‐ ∙ Dopamine‐ ∙ Norepinephrine‐ Q3 Class 3B (Abe, Terry, Chris, Robin, Lily) Score: 6/7 An oversupply of neurotransmitter in the first patient shows an excessive level of skeletal movements, including spasms, violent muscle contractions, and convulsions. The nickname for this patient is SpasAce. An oversupply of neurotransmitter in the second patient shows symptoms of schizophrenia, demonstrating behaviors such as hallucinations, delusions and periodic thought confusions. Patient also shows signs of euphoria and pleasurable emotions. The nickname for this patient will be Dopiehappy. The third patient with an oversupply of neurotransmitter demonstrates hyperactivity, and overly aggressive behaviors. He shows high arousal and mood. The nickname for this patient is Hypie. The fourth patient demonstrates symptoms of agitation or restlessness, diarrhea, fast heart beat, hallucinations, loss of coordination, overactive reflexes and rapid changes in blood pressure. The nickname for this patient is AwakeSeroie. The fifth patient with the abnormal level of neurotransmitters shows paralysis and depression, including anxiety. The sixth patient reveals an elevated state of mood, insensitivity to pain, pleasurable emotions including abnormal experience of euphoria. The nickname for this patient is Endopain. The seventh patient potentially carries the risk of brain damage after stroke, and demonstrates seizures, and every day behaviors such as extreme focus and attention in learning. The nickname for this patient is Strokiemate. Q3 Class 1B ( An Ting, Jeremy, Hoi Chi, and Alex) Score: 7/7 those technically a 0 because of point form Ace-A-RAM (Acetylcholine): Ace can be the reference to the neurotransmitter, and
"A-RAM" is the reference to the characteristic of the neurotransmitter in our case
memory, and a reference to computer RAM. Or RAM can be an acronym for
Regulation of Arousal/Attention and Memory. The patient Ace-A-RAM has problem
with attention, arousal and memory.
Dopy (Dopamine): Dopy is a reference to the drug cocaine, which causes you to
become sleepy and also because dopamine contributes to pleasurable emotions, as
with cocaine. The patient Dopy would most likely have schizophrenia, be
hyperactive, and will be high.
N.E.D (Norepinephrine): N.E = an abbreviation to Norepinephrine, D equals to
depression which refers to the modulation of mood. NED would be depressed and
would mostly stick by himself.
S.M.A.S.H (Serotonin): S =Serotonin M = mood A = arousal S =sleep H = hunger
The patient SMASH would be depressed and most likely have obsessive-compulsive
disorder.
GambIT (GABA): I.T = Inhibitory transmitter
The patient Gambit has suffered from insomnia, seizure, and lack of inhibitory
transmitters that controls the dopamine system.
Dolphin (Endorphines): When a person sees a dolphin, they simulate a sense of joy,
pleasure, and happiness. Patient Dolphin would be cheerful and possibly
hyperactive.
Glutton ( Glutamate): Over supply (gluttony) is a main cause of brain damage. The
patient Glutton is more likely to experience a stroke and have problems in learning
and memory.
