Dräger plans IT outsourcing partnership with Cap Gemini Ernst & Young / Lübeck
to become central location for IT center network in Northern Germany
Berlin/Lübeck (ots) - Lübeck-based Drägerwerk AG intends to establish an
outsourcing partnership with the management and IT consulting company Cap Gemini
Ernst & Young Deutschland GmbH. Within the scope of this partnership, Cap Gemini
Ernst & Young will acquire the IT subsidiaries Nordac Rechenzentrumsgesellschaft
mbH (data center operation) and Dräger Synematic GmbH (IT consulting) in Lübeck,
and Dräger Information Technologies GmbH (operation of hospital information
systems) in Berlin.
On November 27, 2003, the business partners signed a memorandum of
understanding. The details of the agreement will be finalized in the coming
weeks. The order volume adds up to a three-digit million Euro-amount. The
partners aim at a long-term, global partnership. They agreed to keep the
acquisition price and further details confidential.
In the future, Cap Gemini Ernst & Young will provide the IT services for the
Dräger group. The 230 IT employees of the three Dräger IT subsidiaries will be
taken over by Cap Gemini Ernst & Young. Cap Gemini Ernst & Young offers the IT
companies and their employees a clear perspective as service providers in the
areas IT infrastructure operation, IT application management, and IT projects.
"Lübeck will then become the central location of the Cap Gemini Ernst & Young
center network in Northern Germany," says Ulrich Prädel, Vice President of the
Outsourcing Division Central Europe at Cap Gemini Ernst & Young.
"With this step, the Dräger group will further focus on technology for life,
namely the core competencies medical technology and safety technology. At the
same time, their increasingly global business processes will thus receive a
powerful IT partner able to meet the present and future IT requirements of the
group on a global scale," states Stefan Dräger, board member responsible for
corporate matters in the Dräger group, and IT outsourcing project manager.
