A QUICK GUIDE FOR INTERCAMPUS REGISTRATION
Welcome to the University of Illinois at Chicago Summer Session! The following information explains the resources
you will be using to register for classes and the information you need along the way to ensure your registration and
time at UIC goes smoothly. Intercampus Registrants can register at appointed times during Open Registration which
begins in mid-April.
VIEW SUMMER COURSES
To view a list of summer courses, go to the Summer Session Web site, and select “Courses.” You will be able to see
what courses are offered in the 4-week and 8-week session. You will also find a link to the Summer Course Schedule
to see complete course information including meeting times and days.
If you want to track seat availability in a course before your appointed registration time, you also can do so by
checking the Summer Course Schedule.
GET READY TO REGISTER: Review Course Requirements
Below is a list of things you need to consider as you select your summer courses. For a complete list of things you
will either need to do or consider, select “UIUC / UIS Students” then “Checklist for UIC Summer” on the Summer
Session Web site.
 Academic Advising and Course Transferability
Intercampus Registrants are not required to receive academic advising at UIC prior to registering. However, you
should check with your home school advisor to make sure the courses you plan to take will transfer back to your
home institution. If your advisor requires official course descriptions, you can access them through the Summer
Session Web site. For syllabi requests, please contact the Summer Session Office.
 Course Prerequisites
A number of courses have prerequisites, which are included in the online course schedule. Course prerequisites
apply to enrollment of all students, including Intercampus Registrants, so please check the online course schedule
first before registering.
Certain courses with prerequisites require a special override for you to register. You can check which courses
require an override on the Summer Session Web site or contact the Summer Session Office. For all other courses
with prerequisites, you should be able to register normally. If you’re unsure if you meet the prerequisites for a
course, you should check with your home school advisor first. If you have any additional questions, please contact
the Summer Session Office for assistance. You may also want to bring a copy of your transcript to the first day of
class to check with the instructor. If you do not meet the prerequisites and you need to drop the class, you must
do so online through the my.UIC portal by the appropriate deadline (see “Making Changes to your Registration” at
the end of this guide).
 Restricted Courses
Enrollment in restricted courses is limited to students meeting certain criteria, such as a specific college or major.
Restrictions are listed in the online course schedule. If you have questions about your qualifications for a course,
please contact the Summer Session Office for assistance.
 Placement Tests
Intercampus Registrants are not required to take placement tests in order to register even though the course
listing in the online course schedule may indicate this. However, you are responsible for determining if you are in
the proper course. An instructor may advise you to change courses if you have registered for an inappropriate
level. If you have any questions, please call the Summer Session Office or speak to the instructor on the first day
of class.
GET READY TO REGISTER: Set Up Your Access to my.UIC.edu
The my.UIC.edu web portal is an online gateway to university applications where you will be able to:
 Access your UIC e-mail account
 Check your registration eligibility and Time Ticket
 Register for courses
 View and pay your tuition bill
 Check grades
 Request transcripts
As a UIUC or UIS student, you will be able to use the same Enterprise ID and password that you use on your home
campus, but you will need to activate a UIC netID. This will allow you to use the my.UIC.edu portal to register and
also access campus computing services such as UIC e-mail, computer labs, and Blackboard. To access the portal,
you need to activate your UIC netID at least 24 hours before logging in.
 Activating your NetID:
Here is information you will need in order to activate your UIC netID:
UIN (University Identification Number)
SSN
Date of Birth
Use the form MMDDYYYY (For
example, 04191973).
Your UIN at UIC is the same as your
UIN at UIUC or UIS.
To activate your UIC netID, visit summer.uic.edu, select “UIUC/UIS Students,” select “Registering,” then
“Activating Your Logins.”
You will have to create a secure password when you establish your netID. Your password needs to be 8
characters long and contain at least one upper case letter, one lower case letter, and one number. For more
suggestions on choosing a safe password, visit the ACCC Web site at accc.uic.edu/tag/password.
After following the online instructions to set up your logins, write down your UIC netID and password since you will
need them to access most University resources.

 Time Ticket: Your Appointment to Register Online
Intercampus Registrants can only register after Open Registration begins. Each student is assigned an
appointment to register (Time Ticket) which tells you the earliest date and time you can register online.
Time Tickets will be available online for viewing in the my.UIC portal beginning in mid-March approximately 3-5
days after you have been admitted. For viewing instructions, see the next section “Registering Using my.UIC.”
Online registration is available 24 hours a day, except Sundays from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. according to the following

3. Select the “Academics” tab; select “Registration, then “Student Self-Service Log-in – Registration Menu.”
4. On the main Registration menu, select “Registration Eligibility” to view your Time Ticket (and to find out if you
have any holds).
5. Select “Return to Menu” at the top of the screen to return to the Registration menu.

the lecture and lab or discussion. We suggest you keep the online course schedule open to reference
section information.
8. After you have registered, be sure to view your schedule. We recommend printing a copy for your records.
 Possible Obstacles to Registration: Registration Holds
You could encounter certain obstacles while registering for courses. If you have any holds, you will see these
when you check your “Registration Eligibility” in my.UIC.edu.
Type of
Hold
What it means
Financial
You owe the University money. You will need to pay the
amount owed before you will be able to register.
Immunization
If you previously attended UIC and have an incomplete
medical record, you may encounter a hold while
registering. You will need to clear the hold with the
Office of Medical Immunization Records.
Advising
If you have been admitted to UIC as a new student in
the fall, an advising hold might prevent you from
registering for summer courses.
What to do
If you encounter a financial,
immunization, or advising hold, please
contact the Summer Session Office at
(312) 996-9099.
For any other registration hold, please
call the Registration Help Line at (312)
996-8600.
 Making Changes to your Registration
You are not automatically dropped from a course by not attending.
If you want to drop a course or withdraw from all your courses, you must do so through the my.UIC portal by the
appropriate deadlines in order to make sure your tuition bill is accurate. You must make registration changes
online to prevent inaccurate billing and grading. For more detailed information regarding registration, holds, tuition
and fees information, drop and withdrawal policies and procedures, and tuition refunds, visit the Summer Session
Web site.
 Payment and Academic Obligations
Registration and assignment to courses obligates you to pay all tuition and fees for those courses as well as any
additional costs that may result from the University’s efforts to obtain payment. You can access your student
account information under the “Finances” tab in my.UIC.edu.
Payment is due on the 28th day of each month. Please refer to the online summer registration policies and
procedures for detailed information regarding the UIC withdrawal policy and refund deadlines for the term.
If you are enrolled in the 4-week session, you are financially responsible for any credit hours in which you
are enrolled in that session beyond Wednesday, May 20, 2015.
If you are enrolled in the 8-week session, you are financially responsible for any credit hours in which you
are enrolled in that session beyond Friday, June 19, 2015.
If you plan on withdrawing from either session, please see the refund schedule at
uic.edu/depts/oar/financial_matters/refund_schedule.html.
NOTE ON HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE

through UIC you can waive coverage at UIC by submitting the online Waiver Form by June 1, 2015.

at UIC when you enroll. You will be assessed the CampusCare fee at UIC unless you submit the online Waiver

at UIC. Should you wish to enroll in CampusCare for the summer, you will need to submit a reinstatement form
