The purpose of the beginning of this feasibility study is to familiarize the reader with the different sites we will be using as well as the criteria used. our test results will then be displayed after showing the stats of each of the website. We then rate the different websites on a scale of 1-5 5 being the best. After recording our results we then began to compare websites and through personal opinion and fact we chose what, statistically is the best sight to order textbooks from.

Students attending colleges and universities will, at one point in their attendance, have to purchase textbooks. While many use the on campus bookstores to purchase textbooks, more students are purchasing textbooks at online purchasing websites. Due to the variety of these websites, many students are lost when it comes to which website to use to buy textbooks. Because of this, we decided to do a feasibility report on the best purchasing website on the web. We started by picking the top 4 most visited websites that sell textbooks. We then selected 5 Criteria that would best represent the overall greatness of the website. After reading this feasibility study the reader should be able to decide which website would best suit their need for an online textbook purchasing website.

For the study comparing Amazon, Chegg, Abebooks, and TextbooksRus, the four products used to evaluate the websites are the following textbooks:
“We the People: An Introduction to American Politics”
“Calculus Early Transcendentals”
“University Physics”
“Campbell Biology”

Price of Product
With numerous amounts of textbook suppliers, the most important factor to the customers is pricing.
People will most likely always buy the product with the lowest price from a supplier because saving money appeals to customers.
Usability of Website
This method of evaluation is the process of visiting the online textbook supplier and being able to navigate through the website with the ability to find and purchase the desired textbook. This criteria is important when comparing online textbook websites because if a customer is unable to use the website to locate their textbook, then the customer will be unable to purchase textbooks from the website. When critiquing the different online textbook websites, the main factors were organization of the website and the ease of use of the website.
Availability of Product
This criteria is important for most students when using a textbook website to purchase books. With more availability of textbooks, the more customers the website will have. A website must have a high level of availability to set itself apart from the other online textbook companies.
Customer Service
With the possibilities for problems when ordering textbooks through an online source, customer service quality is important. This criteria is vital for distinguishing which online textbook supplier is the best because as any successful company has displayed, taking great care of customers is important.
Rental Program
When it comes to purchasing a textbook, some customers prefer to rent the book in order to save money.
For this criteria, the different websites will be compared on their rental program. If the website has a rental program, then the features of the rental program will also be evaluated.

Price
Amazon prices were ranked 3.5 out 5 in our scale regarding these books “We the People An Introduction to American Politics”, “Calculus Early Transcendentals”, “University Physics”, and “Campbell Biology”.
The prices from this website are more expensive than other sites but their shipping is less expensive.
Many items are free shipping and if you join a program called Amazon Student you can receive free shipping on all school related materials.
Usability
Amazon ranked 4.2 out 5 in usability because of ease of use in searching and finding the right textbook needed. When Searching with ISBN numbers the right book will come up every time. Searching for a textbook using just the title will sometimes bring up different books and editions. By just using search options you are unable to locate the book you are looking for very easily. Navigating through the website overall is better than similar websites.
Availability
Scoring 4 out 5 in availability Amazon is very reliable when trying to get the textbook you need fast. The availability of textbooks on this website is very well. Any book you are looking for will be on this website. The number of books Amazon has in inventory is far greater than the next leading website.
Customer Service
Amazon ranked very well in customer service due to the website has 24/7 customer service. While many websites have this feature many have a wait time twice the wait time of this website. You are able to contact their customer service by email, phone, mail, or instant messaging. Because of these key customer service attributes Amazon scored 5 out 5.
Rental Program
The rental program on this website has a broad range of books available to be rented instead of bought.
These books are sent to you for free shipping with a postage paid return envelope. Not every book on this website is able to be rented however. Because of these facts, on our scale Amazon scored 3.5 out 5.
Overall
Due to such great scoring in our scale to 1 to 5, Amazon has an overall score of 4.04 ranking it the best website to buy textbooks from the other websites we used to conduct our research.

Abebooks prices were ranked 2.8 out 5 in our scale regarding these books “We the People An
Introduction to American Politics”, “Calculus Early Transcendentals”, “University Physics”, and
“Campbell Biology”. Prices from Abebooks were generally more expensive than other sites but their prices were still competitive. One the main problems it scored so low was due the lack of textbooks you could rent.
Usability
Abebooks ranked 4 out 5 in usability because of ease of use in searching and finding the right textbook needed. If you knew the ISBN and the Author name you were guaranteed to find the book needed.
Sometimes when searching for a textbook using just the title will sometimes bring up different books and editions. Navigating through the website overall was very easy.
Availability
Scoring 4.2 out 5 in availability Abebooks is very reliable when trying to get the textbook you need when you want it. The availability of textbooks on this website is very well. Abebooks has decent size inventory of textbooks and had all the books we used to conduct or research by the dozens.
Customer Service
Abebooks ranked fairly decent in customer service due to the website has a 30 day refund guaranteeing you that you will like the condition of the textbook you buy. Because of this key customer service feature
Abebooks scored 4 out 5.
Rental Program
The rental program on this website was very poor none of the books we used to conduct our research were you able to rent. Although there were some textbooks available for rent. Because Abebooks does not have every book available for rent we gave Abebooks a 1 out 5.
Overall
Due to the high standards of the other three websites, our research has shown that Abebooks is the worst to buy from. Abebooks had an overall score of 3.04 ranking. This is because Abebooks had very limited books for rent and was a little pricy.

Chegg prices were ranked 3 out 5 in our scale regarding these books “We the People An Introduction to
American Politics”, “Calculus Early Transcendentals”, “University Physics”, and “Campbell Biology”.
Prices from Chegg were generally more expensive than other sites when trying to buy a new or used book but were average when trying to rent a textbook. One of the main reasons it scored so low was due the lack of textbooks you could buy new.
Usability
Chegg ranked 4 out 5 in usability because of ease of use in searching and finding the right textbook needed. Knowing the ISBN can ensure that you find and get the book you need everytime. Sometimes though when searching for a textbook using just the ISBN you will sometimes get older editions.
Navigating through the website overall was very simple.
Availability
Scoring 3 out 5 in availability Chegg is very reliable when trying to get the textbook you want to rent but not as well when you want to buy new. Chegg has decent size inventory of textbooks and had all the books we used to conduct or research.
Customer Service
Chegg ranked well in customer service due to the website providing a 3 week return full refund and a no questions asked policy. Because Chegg allows for a no questions asked program we gave Chegg a score of 4 out 5.
Rental Program
The rental program on this website was excellent. All the books we used in our research were rentable.
Because Chegg is known for being the number one textbook rental store online and having very competitive prices Chegg scored a 5 out 5.
Overall
Due to Chegg scoring well in all of our criteria we gave Chegg an overall score of ranking of 4.

TextbooksRus prices were extremely competive in the rental and used portion of this particular criteria but the new book prices were always more expensive 3 out 5 in our scale regarding these books “We the

Also, the website sells study guides, workbooks, and lab manuals. TextbooksRus scored a 4 out 5.
Customer service
You can contact customer service by phone, e-mail, or regular mail. If you click on the link Contact Us, the website features a form where you can fill out and type in your comments, questions, or concerns. The website also features a Help and General Policies page in case if you have any questions without having to contact the representatives. Although, some might not find the webpage helpful as some of the content can be vague. We scored TextbooksRus 3 out of 5.

Through our research we found that buying textbooks online can be very difficult and time consuming is probably why most people buy their textbooks on campus. With the information we have gathered though we believe can help make buying textbooks easier. Our research showed that most online sites are very similar and very easy to use, prices are relatively close throughout all the books and all retailers have their own customer service. Where you finally start seeing the difference between them is in the rental programs. This were some sites may excel at and others not so much. Buying or renting textbooks should be easier with the information we have provided and make our lives as students a little less stressful.

We recommend that students should buy from Amazon. It not only scored the best out of our overall rankings but is seemed to be very populal among fellow students about 2 out 5 choose that they would or are currently using Amazon.com to buy or rent textbooks.
