Expectations and Rubric for Open-Mind Portrait
Objective: Create an open-mind portrait that demonstrates your ability to cite textual evidence to support analysis of explicit
and inferential character traits from the text.
Directions:
1. Your project must follow these directions and contain the following elements:
a. Open-mind portrait must be about a character from The Breadwinner
b. Draw and color a portrait of the head and neck of the character
c. Draw and/or print AT LEAST 3 pictures that represent the character the story and arrange them inside the head
d. Write AT LEAST 3 brainstormed words or phrases around EACH picture
e. Write the character’s name on the paper
f. Open-mind portrait is neat and organized; colorful and eye-catching
g. On the back of open-mind portrait write your name (first and last) and Reading class period
2. Refer to the rubric on the other side of this sheet for expectations in:

4. This rubric must be turned in with your open-mind portrait on Thursday in Reading class.
