Counter flow Traffic:
• The Department of Transportation will counter flow traffic on the roads surrounding
the speedway (US Highway 29, Morehead Road, Bruton Smith Boulevard, etc.) to
facilitate a faster and more efficient traffic flow (traveling to and leaving the speedway).
Additional lanes will be dedicated in the direction needed, or all lanes will be converted
to one way in the direction needed as traffic dictates.
• US Highway 29 (front of speedway) will be counter flowed to 3 lanes in one direction
and 1 lane in the lesser direction both before and after the race.
• Bruton Smith Boulevard from I-85 to US Highway 29 will be counter flowed to 3 lanes
in one direction and 1 lane in the lesser direction both before and after races.
• Morehead Road from Harrisburg to Entrance P on speedway property will be counter
flowed to all lanes in one direction both before and after the race.
• Morehead Road West from US Highway 29 to Mallard Creek Road/Mallard Creek

admission gates. The Nationwide on Your Side Ride is staffed by local volunteers who
know their way around LMS and are ready to help all race fans, especially the elderly and
physically challenged fans, and families with children.
Bus Shuttles – The speedway operates 3 types of bus shuttle service on LMS property:

TOWED VEHICLES – WRECKER SERVICE
A number of situations will result in cars being towed to the LMS tow-a-way area.
Vehicles parked in the following situations will be towed:
• Vehicles parked in numbered and reserved spaces without the appropriate parking
credential.
• Vehicles blocking fire lanes, gates, entrances, emergency exits, other vehicles.
Vehicles in violation are towed to an area outside the backstretch in the Nursery Parking
area (see map). If your vehicle has been towed, contact speedway security at 704-4553220 or speak to a speedway Guest Services Representative and he/she will assist you
with directions or help you get to security headquarters.
ADA Parking (Paid):
• Available in Lot M across from Gate 25 at the backstretch (please see driving
directions for Yellow Parking)
ADA Parking (Free):
• Available in Lots E,H,T (please see driving directions for Green Parking)
Additional Traffic Hints:
• Speedway officials urge race fans to arrive at the track early. Use the extra time to
tailgate, visit displays, souvenir row and enjoy pre-race activities. If possible, plan your
trip to arrive a couple hours before the race is scheduled to begin.
• Turn to WSOC-FM 103.7 for up-to-the-minute traffic reports.
• I-85 and exit 49 (Speedway Blvd.) is usually the most congested on event days. If
possible, try to avoid exit 49 and Speedway Blvd. Good alternates are Hwy 29 from
both the North and the South and Hwy 49 to Morehead Road.
Exit Disclaimer:
The North Carolina Department of Transportation will have various traffic patterns in
place for incoming and outgoing traffic. Please follow their directions. Sometimes you’ll
have to “turn right to go left!” All traffic patterns will eventually lead you back to I-85,
I-77 and other major highways. Use maps to make yourself familiar with local roads and
alternate routes.
