Set
I will tell students that we are continuing our unit over the human body. Today we will be
learning more about the respiratory system.
Lesson
I will show students the diagram of the human body, pointing out the respiratory system.
We will examine pictures of different parts of the respiratory system. As we look at
pictures, I will ask students to make lists of fun facts about the respiratory system. I will
also show students a PowerPoint over the respiratory system; they can write down fun
facts from this as well. After we have looked at all of the pictures and have viewed the
PowerPoint, I will ask students to get with a partner and make a combined list of fun
facts. Then each partner group will share three fun facts with the class. I will record
students’ answers in the form of an Inspiration Web. The web will serve as a picture of
the different functions and parts of the respiratory system. I will add additional facts to
the web, if needed.
Assessment (How will the students’ show you that the objective has been met):

As an informal assessment, students will play a jeopardy game over the respiratory
system. Questions will be created by me and will cover the lesson material. I will
observe students’ responses in order to determine which information will need to be
covered more thoroughly before the end of the unit.
