OVERVIEW:
This is the undergraduate senior capstone course for business majors. The purpose of the course is to
learn how organizations achieve superior performance.

TEXTS:
Gamble and Thompson, 2010. Essentials of Strategic Management: The Quest for Competitive
Advantage, Second Edition, McGraw-Hill Irwin. The course text is a customized (less
expensive) version available only through the UMass-Dartmouth bookstore. You may use the
non-customized version available elsewhere, but it could be more expensive. This textbook is
strongly recommended and will be the source of in-class discussions, exercises, and exam

capsim.com is required for each enrolled student (student cost $53.99.)

Peer evaluation and class participation will influence your course grade when it is significantly

USE OF ELECTRONIC DEVICES POLICY:
Use of laptops, PDAs, or cell phones is not allowed during non-simulation related times. You
may use these devices during the simulation exercise with discretion. Violations may count as
deductions from class participation. If you wish to be exempted from this policy (e.g. to receive
emergency alerts) please notify me in advance.
