The Company
The cornerstone of ISC´s competences derives
from the ability to undertake the complete range
of tasks associated with the development of
complex mechanical installations and customizing them to meet the client’s demands from the
description of the task requirements to design,
execution and completion of the special device or
tool.
ISC Consulting Engineers A/S was founded in 1967
by Kjeld Thomsen M.Sc. (struct. Eng.) former associate professor at the Technical University of
Denmark.
ISC assures that the job is carried out according
to the time schedule, the technical specifications
and within the budget.
ISC provides comprehensive independent consulting services within all fields of planning, feasibility studies, civil, structural, mechanical, process,
and electrical engineering on a worldwide basis.
We allocate a project manager and a project
group with professional skill in the various engineering disciplines to perform the assignment
which typically will include the following phases

tools necessary for optimal solutions.

Our 235 employees are located at our headquarters in Copenhagen and at our offices in Kalundborg, Esbjerg, Kolding, Viborg and Aalborg.
ISC has special experience and knowledge in the
field of planning and design of advanced civil
works such as the “The Øresund Fixed Link” which
connects Denmark and Sweden and with its 490m
main span is the longest cable stayed railway
bridge in the world. ISC also has special experience in the design and planning of other civil
works such as industrial plants, power stations,
port facilities, oil & gas installations, wind farm
installations, airports and railways.
The staff
The combined staff of the company comprises
235 employees (2014) of which approximately 70
% are graduates in civil, structural, electrical or
mechanical engineering and related disciplines.
The company´s expertise also covers management, planning, computer applications, information and maintenance systems, client consulting,
site management and inspection.
Furthermore, ISC maintains standing agreements
of cooperation with individual experts and public
scientific institutions, thereby supplementing the
company´s know-how in connection with assignments requiring multi professional teams of
specialists outside the company.

The Pile Gripper
ISC Consulting Engineers A/S has many years of
experience in the design of complex offshore
structures within oil and gas, drilling rigs and
offshore wind. ISC´s experience in the design of
offshore structures is founded on the knowledge
obtained since 1975 in the offshore oil and gas
industry.
Since ISC developed the world´s first pile gripper for installation of monopiles in 2001, ISC has
successfully undertaken many designs of advanced
offshore structures involving multidisciplinary
design of handling tools such as pile grippers and
upending tools for the offshore installation of
monopiles.
The pile gripper provides lateral support of monopiles during driving, at a fixed vertical level. In
the horizontal direction the pile gripper can move
locally to adjust the monopile position, using two
variable hydraulic systems. A third hydraulic system controls the opening and closing of the claw.
Rollers in the claw ensure that the pile can move
freely in the vertical direction.
ISC range of pilegrippers also comprises hull fixed
low level types as well as innovative design of
upending hinge tools used for installation of the
very large monopiles. The upending hinge provides safe lateral guidance during the lifting process on the vessel and ensures that the monopile
is positioned correctly.
Ready for any challenge
We offer our special know-how in the field of
planning and design of offshore facilities and
installations comprising jackets, topsides, foundations, bridges, Texas decks, cranes,
piping, process, buoyancy systems, sea fastening
and load out structures, mechanical notifications
of drilling rigs, offshore surveys and site supervisions.
ISC has a division of mechanical engineers, who
in cooperation with our structural engineers have
invented a number of innovative designs involving
mechanical- as well as hydraulic solutions. We
have for example for clients developed:
• Ship loading and unloading equipment and gantry
cranes.
• Hydraulic systems for large rotation bridges.
• Rotating bearings for cranes.
• Bearing for hydraulic activated systems for
rotating bridges.
• Systems for unloading and mounting of heavy
structures.
• Sea fastening systems for sea transportation.
• Special offshore installations for the oil- and
gas sector.
There will always be a need for new innovative
designs along with progress and ISC will always be
ready to provide an innovative solution.
