Context:
The SEEDbed Incubator is an intensive finance and support programme for early stage
social ventures with growth potential. It fills a significant gap in the market and will help to
deliver local, regional and national goals for social enterprise. It is the only 'conception to
investment' service combining business model support, coaching, work space and access to
expertise with significant seed capital and investment readiness development. SEEDbed will
work alongside existing networks and organisations and the leading investment body in the
region to develop a dynamic social investment market.
It will cover the Heart of the South West and Cornwall & Isles of Scilly LEP areas.
From November 2014 SEEDbed will recruit 50 South West ventures to join its incubator
programme. Applications will be open to all social ventures but will encourage applicants
from Cornwall and with a rural focus and those working with the following themes in line with
regional priorities:
•
•
•
•
energy and the environment;
food, hospitality and tourism;
place and community;
culture and the creative industries.
The SEEDbed incubator is an intensive and fast paced 9 months programme providing
workshops, master classes, co-working facilities, professional expertise, weekly coaching
sessions and action learning activities to prepare social ventures for growing their business
and scaling their impact. The support will be provided by School for Social Entrepreneurs
Dartington and Plymouth University. In addition ventures will be able to access up to
£40,000 in affordable loan finance, managed by our investment partner South West
Investment Group.
How do we fund it?
SEEDbed is one of ten social incubators set up across the UK with funding from the Cabinet
Office and matched by the delivery partners and local sponsors and investors. It is the only
social incubator fund project in South West England. The £1.05 Million project will provide a
£600k investment fund and a £8.5k support package for each venture. Entry to the incubator
is free, thanks to the Cabinet Office funding. There will be a thorough selection process and
the first cohort of 25 ventures will begin their SEEDbed journey in March 2015.
What do we need now?
We are looking for an individual with exceptional facilitation, coaching and programme
managing skills to take charge of planning, preparing and delivering our ambitious social
incubator programme. You will work closely with the SEEDbed director and Business
