Financial Management Essay Contest
Describe an event or an influence in your life (an experience, a person,
or any other source of guidance/inspiration) that has helped you to
improve your personal financial management. What did you learn, and
how have you used this knowledge to better manage your financial
stewardship?
The following cash prizes* will be awarded for the top three submissions, and
winning essays will be published on our website:
1st - $300
2nd - $200
3rd - $100
Submission must not exceed 1000 words (recommend 800 – 1000 words), and will be judged on
the basis of thoughtful consideration of how you have learned to improve your personal
financial management. Winning essays will best represent a process of continual improvement,
based upon learning from your own experiences and the experiences of others, to replace poor
habits and behaviors with more effective action designed to achieve important financial
objectives.
Entries must be typed and double-spaced, original and unpublished; must also specifically
reference any sources. Submit via email, by March 31st 11:59 PM, or in person by March 31st,
by 05:00 PM. Entries will not be returned. Provide cover sheet, and include your name,
student ID number, mailing address, e-mail address, telephone number, and title of entry. Your
name should not appear on other pages of the essay.
