Swisscontact is an independent Swiss foundation promoting economic, social and environmental
development. Swisscontact's objective is to open up pathways out of poverty for people in developing
countries through broad-based economic development. In its various projects Swisscontact facilitates access
to skills development programmes, fosters competitive entrepreneurship, creates access to local financial
services, and promotes sustainable use of resources. Employing around 900 people, Swisscontact works in
more than 29 countries. The foundation's headquarters is in Zurich.
In Southern Africa, Swisscontact carries out projects for a broad variety of donors in all its four core areas:
skills development, SME promotion, financial services and resource efficiency. For the implementation of a
skills development project in the construction sector, and for the further development of our project
portfolio in this area, we currently seek to employ a
Project Manager for Entrepreneurship Development in the Construction Sector /
Country Director Mozambique
Tasks:
Employment start:
1st of February 2016 or negotiable
Contract duration:
2 years with option of renewal
Place of duty:
Maputo, Mozambique
Disposition for frequent travelling within the
country and in the region
 Design and Implement a project to foster entrepreneurship through skills
development in the construction sector;
 Engage with self-construction initiatives and support development of improved or
alternative building materials
 Manage project resources, supervise planning, monitoring and evaluation processes;
 Support national and international networking in the construction sector within and
outside of Swisscontact;
 Lead the positioning of Swisscontact in the international donor community as well as
with public and private local stakeholders;
 Develop the Swisscontact project portfolio through acquisitions of new projects;
 Participate and represent Swisscontact in relevant national and international meetings,
seminars, committees and working groups;
 Legally represent Swisscontact in Mozambique.
Requirements: 







Master in technical science (civil engineering) or in economy or equivalent;
At least 5 years of experience in managing projects and/or multi stakeholder initiatives,
preferably in development cooperation in Sub Sahara Africa;
Good knowledge of and practical experience in the use of methodologies related to
Entrepreneurship Promotion and/or Skills Development, as well as to Monitoring and
Results Measurement; Private sector experience, preferably in the construction sector;
Strong leadership skills and experience in coordinating interdisciplinary project teams;
Capacity to elaborate concept notes and project proposals;
Excellent skills in Portuguese and English; German as additional asset (written and
spoken);
Ability to think analytically and systemically; strong in innovation and creativity;
Strong communication skills and team spirit, in an intercultural context.
