councils are dealing with in the current economic climate.
It is more important than ever that we target our resources
on the things that really matter. The focus of our new
Corporate Plan is on:
•
•
•
•
Thriving Economy
Better Homes
Empowering our Communities
Caring for our Environment
We will continue to work hard to find new and innovative
ways of doing things and become more efficient while
maintaining excellent public services.

Our Top Priorities
£ Thriving Economy
To create a prosperous economy, secure and well-paid
jobs and a sustainable environment - this will make Mid
Devon the destination of choice for successful
businesses. We will do this by:
• increasing inward investment into the district
• providing start up, relocation and expansion
opportunities for business
• providing opportunities and support to new and
existing businesses
• regenerating and improve our market towns
• promoting raised skill levels and educational
attainment
Better Homes
To ensure that the housing needs of our residents are
met through the provision of affordable homes and
good quality housing in the public and private sector.
Empowering our Communities
To work with our partners to maximise the potential of
all our citizens by tackling social disadvantage and
deprivation. To plan for the future in relation to older
people and young people.
❀ Caring for our Environment
To promote and protect our outstanding environment
and beautiful countryside, including:
