is required to apply, and if you are a nonprofit organization, proof of status (e.g., a 501(c)(3)
IRS letter) is also required. Pharma companies do not make grants to individuals.
GILEAD
Gilead Grants are provided in three categories:
1. Community and Patient Education: Community and patient particularly for
populations most at risk. Events or resources to educate patients about prevention and
care options
2. Independent Medical Education: Examples of Eligible Recipients: Hospitals and
clinics, Charitable organizations, Professional associations, Patient advocacy and
support groups, Academic medical centers and universities
3. Charitable Support: Support for a limited number of social service and healthcarerelated charitable events in areas of unmet need. Examples of Funded Projects Awards
dinners, Fundraising galas, Local programs, Walk/runs Social service Community
initiatives

ABBVIE
AbbVie Grants are provided in three categories:
1. Medical Education Grants: Accredited programs, including live presentations (e.g.,
symposia, regional/local programs, teleconferences, live webcasts), and enduring
materials (e.g., printed, CD-ROM, audiotapes, slide kits, monographs, and web-based
instructional materials)
2. Educational Support Grants: Fellowships, Patient education, Screening programs and
health fairs, Scholarships to educational conferences, Third-party educational, scientific
or professional meetings
3. Charitable Donations: Awards, Business expense/general office support, Mission

JANSSEN
Janssen Grants are provided in four categories:
1. Accredited Continuing Education: Educational programs for healthcare providers
such as physicians, nurses, and/or pharmacists that provide continuing education
credits.
2. Non-Accredited Professional Educational Activities: Educational programs for
healthcare providers such as physicians, nurses, and pharmacists that do not provide
continuing education credits. As a condition for funding, to the extent Janssen
Pharmaceuticals, Inc., products are discussed as part of such funded activities, Janssen
Pharmaceuticals, Inc., requires that such discussion be done in a manner consistent
with the FDA-approved labeling.
3. Patient Education: Printed/online educational materials produced for people living with
a particular disease or condition.
4. Fellowships: Support for bona fide fellowship programs at teaching institutions,
medical societies and cooperative groups. We may also support travel scholarships for
fellows, residents, or healthcare providers in training to attend relevant major medical or
scientific conferences for the purpose of education. All support is in agreement with the
AMA Council on Ethical and Judicial Affairs Gifts to Physicians from Industry.

Bristol Meyers Squibb (BMS)
BMS Grants are provided in four categories:
1. BMS Foundation grants: The Foundation seeks to reduce health disparities in five key
areas: cancer in Europe; hepatitis in Asia; HIV/AIDS in Africa; and serious mental illness
and type 2 diabetes in the U.S.
2. Community Grants: Our company supports non-profit organizations and initiatives in
communities where we have facilities and where our employees live and work in the
U.S.
3. Independent medical education: Grants may be available to support medical
education programs, scientific conferences, development of print and online health care
publications and other related activities.
4. Corporate Giving: We make charitable donations in support of non-profit
organizations. We also provide sponsorships, corporate memberships, and other kinds
of support.

Boehringer Ingelheim (BI)
Boehringer Ingelheim (BI) Grants are provided in three categories:
1. Corporate Giving Charitable Donations: Organizations or associations that are tax
exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code can apply for a charitable
donation from the Boehringer Ingelheim Cares Foundation, Inc. The programs must
align with the Foundation’s goals to improve access to healthcare for those in need and
enhance science and math education while strengthening the communities in which we
live and work. Connecticut is the geographic focus of programs the Foundation
supports. Funding is not provided for event sponsorships.
2. Medical Studies Educational Grants: Medical Educational Grants are independent
educational activities that utilize effective educational methods to address unmet
medical needs that leads to improved patient outcomes. A Boehringer Ingelheim
Pharmaceuticals, Inc. medical educational grant is designed to provide support for
accredited educational programs for health care providers and non-accredited
educational programs directed toward the patient and the local health care community.
3. Investigator Initiated Studies (IIS): BIPI's IIS program is designed to provide support
for investigator owned clinical research studies. The program is offered to all academic
and community based scientists interested in pursuing unique clinical research and
