Virtual Fly Lab Assignment
In this assignment, you will be replicating the classic fruit fly experiments that we
learned about in class. You will be completing the assignment in your lab groups.
1) Go to the virtual fly lab link from the main web page
2) Choose a pair of fruit flies to mate
3) On each page, answer the questions that the website gives you
4) Record the data from each breeding experiment into Excel. Be sure to organize your
data.
5) Calculate your expected outcome using Excel and compare your actual results to
your predictions.
6) Do a Chi-squared test to ask if your results make sense. Remember, if your
calculated chi-squared value is greater than your critical value, then there is another
independent variable in play!
