Freshman Summer Reading List
2015
Each student entering Grade 9 CP will
choose any two (2) books from the following list; for each student entering Grade 9
Honors choose any three (3) books.
For each book chosen, hand write a reading log using 8 1/2 by 11 three-hole
punched loose leaf paper (trim edges from
paper). Set-up the reading log with your
name, date, title of book (underlined), author, and total pages in the book.
Reading logs must be handwritten or hand
printed; no typed Reading Logs will be
accepted. Complete a reading log entry for
approximately every ten (10) pages of the
book. Label each entry with the date and
page numbers you have read. Write three
(3) to four (4) sentences summarizing the
pages read. Use the front and back of each
loose leaf paper and write more than one
entry per page (skip a line between each
entry). Staple all reading logs per book
together. Note: no notebooks, report covers,
etc. will be accepted.
Grading is based on completeness, neatness,
formatting , and following directions!
Students must read the book by the author
listed or suffer low/failing grades; AR tests are
on actual unabridged book by the author listed.
