How to get an I-20 Form:
1. Declaration of Finances (DOF):
International applicants are required to submit a declaration of finances (DOF) indicating that the applicant, or
the applicant’s sponsor has financial resources adequate to provide for his or her educational expenses. The
amount declared must reflect the total sum of tuition, fees and living expenses for one academic year of study –
the total estimated amount for the 2013-2014 academic year is $47,800 Please note that all documentation
must be dated within one year of initial enrollment at MassArt. (No older than September 1, 2012)
2. Verification of Finances (VOF);
All funds declared on the DOF must be substantiated by a verification of finances (VOF) letter from an officer of
the student's bank or sponsor's bank. Funds must be in a readily accessible form such as liquid assets
(checking, savings account, etc.). All documents must be in English and in U.S. dollars, or the current exchange
rate must be supplied by the bank. All documents must state the exact amount of money available in the
account OR must specify that there is more than the required minimum available in the account. The DOF and
VOF must be completed and returned to the Office of Admissions by the deadline.
3. Total Cost of Attendance:
The below chart reflects the estimated Cost of Attendance for the 2013-2014 academic year. The $47,800
amount reflected in the chart below is the amount that must be accounted for on both your DOF and VOF as
mentioned above.
The cost of attendance is an estimation of the amount of money it could potentially cost you to go to MassArt
for one academic year. It includes your tuition and fees, and also includes an estimate for living expenses,
personal expenses, art supplies, and books. We also indicate whether a cost will be paid directly to MassArt and
appear on your student bill or if it is a personal cost. Please note that personal costs can vary from student to
student. In addition, “Personal Expenses” does not include: travel to/from the U.S., expenses for vacation
periods and personal spending beyond the listed amount.
