Parents’ Child Sexual Exploitation Awareness Day 13 May
Social media pack
Please use your social media accounts to promote the Project Phoenix child sexual awareness day
being held on 13 May 2015. Advance promotion as well as support on the day would be much
appreciated. In this pack are some pre-written posts to get you started.
About Project Phoenix
The Project Phoenix ‘It’s not okay’ child sexual exploitation campaign is Greater Manchester-wide,
involving partners from across the police, health, education, social care and beyond. It has significant
buy-in from the region’s senior leaders, so please do all you can to push and support this campaign
via your social media channels.
More information about Project Phoenix and who we are: http://www.itsnotokay.co.uk/who-weare/ . Any queries, please contact communications@gmpcc.org.uk .
Parents’ CSE Awareness Day
On 13 May, Project Phoenix is holding a child sexual exploitation awareness day targeted at parents
throughout Greater Manchester. This is to help parents understand what child sexual exploitation is
and to recognise the signs.
Please use the contents of this pack to help us promote the day in the run up to the event, and also
on the day itself.
Two key events will be taking place on the day:
 Various events across Greater Manchester including stalls, leaflets, banners, pr and media
events across all divisions – these will raise awareness of general internet safety and online
grooming, as well as child sexual exploitation.
 An ‘ask me anything’ webchat with a mum whose child was groomed by an older ‘friend’.
This brave lady has come forward and agreed to take part so that other parents can ask
questions and benefit from her difficult experience. Also at the chat will be an expert from
PACE UK – parents against child sexual exploitation – and a social worker.
For more information, please contact Kate Leach on 0161 793 3020 or Lauren Taylor on 0161 856
2217.

#childsexualexploitation takes many forms, which is one of the reasons it’s hard to spot.

Make sure your child knows you are always there for them. Perpetrators of child sexual
exploitation will often try to isolate their victims from their usual support network.
