He said, “It has been a great tool that students can utilize on the move.” Kings Firecrackers Visited by Japanese Television Station A TV crew from a popular Japanese travel show came to Columbia Intermediate last week to film the Firecrackers in front of hundreds of fans. Sarah Jessica Parker and Usher were the featured speakers at the ceremony this year. Sam’s artwork has been on display in the National Exhibition in New York and will remain there until June 15th. Kings students Jarod Allen and Lauren Lalli also earned recognition but did not attend the ceremony. Kings Staff at Google Training The staff and administration of the Kings Local School District have been undergoing training on Google Apps for Education. The Google program allows schools to give Google’s communication and collaboration applications to their entire education community for free, which will yield significant savings in technology budgets. By being connected to a common e-mail, chat, and calendar system, as well as presentation and video tools, it will enable students and staff to work together and learn more effectively and efficiently. By the time school starts in the fall, the district will have 805 Google Chromebooks on 27 carts across the district. Kings will be joining over 8 million other students and teachers that are already using Google Apps at schools around the world. June 13, 2013 Page 2 From the Office of the Superintendent….
