December 2010 Joint meeting with Rotary Club of Sentosa On 30th December 2010, the Rotary Club of Changi and the Rotary Club of Sentosa held a joint meeting at Orchard Hotel, Singapore. President: Teo Cheng Kwee President-elect: Stephen Tan Eng Hoe After the confirmation of Minutes, approvals of the Board of Vice President: Anthony Tan Ah Seng Directors’ report and financial statement of account for the Hon. Secretary: Ho Lik Khui previous Rotary Year, President Koo Mong Ing gave a brief Treasurer: Dr. Gong Ing San summary of our Club’s activities for his first half year in Sgt-at-arms: Chin Cheong office. Thereafter, PP Boh recommended that the Club Leadership Plan (CLP) as recommended by RI as administrative Board Members (one-year term) structure for Rotary Clubs, be implemented from RY Jack Tan Why Kuang 2011/2012. Amongst the reasons mentioned are ensuring Albert Kwa Cheng Song continuity in leadership and also relying on less manpower to Marcus Lee Weiren fill up its executive positions. PP Boh outlined the CLP orKoh Wee Son Jack Tan Hian Yong ganization structure, with standing committees recommended. This CLP Committees shall report to the Club’s Board which shall consist of the President, PE, VP, IPP, Secretary, Treasurer and five Board Members. The club members present accepted this structure unanimously. Page 2 Farewell Dinner for Sue Bastone Rotarian Sue Bastone enjoyed her last meeting with the Rotary Club of Changi on 15th December 2010 before her return to Tasmania. After two years with the club, and holding the honour of being the Club's second female member, a Perenakan meal was organised for her farewell dinner which was well attended by members and spouses. After several speeches in which members and past presidents expressed their regards for Sue, she was presented with a beautiful gift as a token of appreciation for her hard work as the Voice Of Changi’s Editor. Sue will be greatly missed by all members, and we wish her all the very best in Tasmania. A trip to visit her is currently being arranged for March 2011. Page 3 Medical Camp, Johor 14th November 2010 The Medical Camp held on 14 November 2010 at Perling, Johor was a joint Charity Project by the Rotary Clubs of Kulai, Pasir Gudang and Changi to provide free medical treatments to the under-privileged residents in that small town. The well planned and successful effort of the Rotarians had benefitted a total of 255 grateful people. It was held in Bangkok from 3-5 December 2010 at the Emerald Hotel and was attended by 316 Rotarians and spouses. Our Club’s delegation comprised of 9 members and 3 spouses. The number of members attending could have been 10 had our PP Dr Gong not been held back in Singapore due to an urgent life-saving surgery during that time. Koh, who has a factory in Bangkok and is no stranger there. The keen golfers amongst our delegates who were in Bangkok a day earlier enjoyed 2 rounds of golfing and private dinners which were arranged by our member Rtn W S During the welcome dinner on Friday 3rd December evening, the many Conference delegates were treated to a ‘Grand Siam Niramit Extravaganza’. It was a spectacular world- Page 4 class performance of Thailand’s unique arts and cultural heritage using state of art technology. The Guest of Honour was RI President’s Representative Past RIVP Gary Huang was invited by president of the Conference, DG K A Abraham to declare the Conference open in the morning of 4th December. Following his opening address, several speeches were made by several outstanding Rotarians who gave Rotary knowledge from different angles before the official lunch. We were indeed privileged to have RIPP Bhichai Rattakul to be one of the keynote speakers. This Conference which was organized by members of Rotary Club of Marina City (DG Abraham’s Club) was well planned and enjoyable to the participants. There were opportunities to enjoy warm fellowship and networking. There were six Plenary Sessions and five Workshop Sessions
