ONLINE CONTEST HELPS SUPPORT WINNER’S FAVORITE CHARITY
Willow Tree Donates $1000 to Help Support the Make A Wish Foundation
PROVIDENCE, RI, JANUARY 4, 2012—Josephine Moretti calls herself a “young” 86-year-old. She’s got a mobile phone, a
“gypsyjoie” email address, and she likes to surf the web. Now she’s got $1000 to donate to one of her favorite charities too.
Willow Tree—New England’s leading provider of prepared fresh/sold frozen poultry pies and deli-fresh chicken salad—
today announced the Providence, RI resident as the latest winner of a $1,000 charitable contribution. Moretti’s name was
selected from hundreds of entries to the company’s How Do You Willow Tree? online charitable promotion.
Moretti has been a fan of Willow Tree for 30 years. She recently signed up through Willow Tree’s web site to receive the
company’s monthly e-newsletter where she saw an announcement for the contest and decided to enter.
“I never thought I’d win, but I’m sure glad I did,” she said. “I have been supporting the Make A Wish Foundation for years
so I am thrilled to be able to make a $1000 contribution this year through Willow Tree.”
th
Moretti and her husband—who celebrated their 50 anniversary this year—like to get in the car and take a trip to the
Willow Tree store in Attleboro to buy their chicken salad and chicken pies right from the source.
“We go all the time,” Moretti says. “We’ve tried all the others, but Willow Tree is the one we like the best. I keep the
chicken salad simple and just put it on a toasted panini or pita bread. I don’t add too much to it. It’s good just the way it is.”
Every three months, Willow Tree randomly selects a winner from all entries received during that time period and makes a
$1000 donation in their name to their charity of choice. The winner also receives his or her choice of Willow Tree
merchandise, tickets to area sports venues, or coupons good for an entire summer’s supply of Willow Tree Chicken Salad
or a winter’s supply of Willow Tree Chicken Pies.
“We’re pleased that Josephine has joined our growing list of winners,” said Walter Cekala, President, Willow Tree. “The
Make A Wish Foundation is certainly a very worthy cause and we are proud to support their mission by making a donation
in her name. It’s also fun for us to meet someone who’s been such a loyal fan of our products for so many years. We’ll be
on the lookout for her at the Attleboro store from now on.”
Willow Tree also randomly selects monthly winners who receive branded merchandise, such as hats, t-shirts and tote
bags, or Willow Tree money-saving coupons. Contest entries are accepted through the last day of each month.
Participants may enter as often as they want, so long as they come up with a different suggestion, technique or recipe
each time.
“There are so many worthy causes out there but, during tough economic times, it is not always easy for people to give
every time they’re asked or to provide the level of support they wish they could,” said Cekala. “This contest is another way
for us to help area residents support the charitable organizations that are important to them. The community is responsible
for our growth and success and we want to do what we can to give back.”
As Willow Tree continues to grow, the company strives to make a positive impact on the communities it serves by
supporting a wide range of charitable organizations and foundations.
Anyone can enter Willow Tree’s charitable promotion by completing the online contest form at
http://www.willowtreefarm.com/how-do-you-willow-tree, which asks participants to explain their unique and creative ways of
enjoying chicken salad and to designate their charity of choice.
Only organizations with a current tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code are eligible to
receive donations. Participants can check to see if their charity is eligible by visiting: http://www.irs.gov/app/pub78/forwardToSearch.do.
