Revolutionary environmentally friendly technology for germ protection,
Aegis Antimicrobial is unique in its application and performance. It does not
poison microorganisms, you or the environment. Aegis works in a totally

bonds a permanent positively charged polymer to the treated surface, like a thin
layer of swords. When microbes come in contact with the Aegis treated surface,
the quaternary amine “sword” (pictured) punctures the cell membrane and the

Aegis is non-toxic. It does not off-gas, leach, diffuse, migrate or volatilise and it
does not leave the surface it has been applied to.
Conventional antimicrobial sanitisers and disinfectants are designed to diffuse,
and be absorbed by, micro-organisms to poison and cause fatal mutations.
These poisons can also leach dangerous toxins into the environment and can
have a lethal effect on humans, wildlife and our planet. Most current cleaning
methods wipe the germs from one place to another, then wash some of them

In a cancer treatment centre or industrial clean-room, the negative impact of

CASE STUDY:
The Arthur G. James Cancer Center
Hospital & Research Institute in Ohio.
The Disaster:
Just before its opening in 1990, a
water pipe ruptured on the 12th floor
of this 12-story building releasing
nearly 2,000,000 litres of water.
Despite high-efficiency air filtration
and a chlorine-based disinfectant
fog throughout the building, large
numbers of fungi and bacteria were
retrieved from the air and surfaces
at all levels of the hospital.
The Treatment:
All accessible interior surfaces
(including carpeting, ceilings, walls,
above ceiling space, furnishings,
elevator shafts and mechanical and
electrical chases) were treated with
the AEGIS antimicrobial.
The Results:
More than 80% of the tested
sample sites saw a 99% reduction in
microbes. The facility was free of
odour and its appearance unaffected
by the extensive application of a
surface antimicrobial. Initial air
samples retrieved greater than 2800
CFU/m3 despite aggressive cleaning
and air filtration efforts. One year later,
retrievals averaged 0.08 CFU/m3. Two
years later, retrievals averaged 0.04
CFU/m3. All newly added or modified
surfaces were treated with the AEGIS
Antimicrobial for five years after the
initial treatments.
