Pre-Marital Coaching Requirements
Covenant Church Colleyville is pleased that you have made the decision to seek biblically-based premarital
coaching before entering into the sacred covenant of marriage. The purpose of premarital coaching is to
better prepare you for the marital relationship.
1.
Your completed Kendall Life Language assessment must be completed and returned prior to the
first Pre-Marital coaching appointment.
2.
The Pre-Marital series of appointments will consist of one orientation session, three group
coaching sessions and (1) individual session with your coaches. Couples are required to complete
all Pre-Marital appointments prior to their wedding date. Appointments are 2 hours in length and
are usually scheduled two weeks apart.
3.
We ask that each couple read the book, “Preparing for Marriage” and complete all homework
assignments prior each scheduled group sessions.
4.
We ask that you be on time and attend all Pre-Marital sessions in order to receive a certificate of
completion.
5.
During these sessions, we ask that you prayerfully seek and listen with a desire to hear from God.
James 1:19, says, “But let everyone be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger.”
Proverbs 1:5 says, “A wise man will hear and increase in learning, a man of understanding will
acquire wise counsel.”
6.
Sessions are more participatory than lecture style. Couples are asked to participate in sessions by
open and honest communication while respecting other’s opinions. All communications in the
sessions are confidential
7.
We asked that you abstain from sexual relations until marriage.
1 Thessalonians 5:22 says, “It is good for a man not to touch a woman. Nevertheless, because of
sexual immorality, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband.”

Couples desiring to be married at Covenant Church in Colleyville must complete all pre-marital
sessions, receive a certificate of completion, along with a positive premarital evaluation form and
meet with the Pastor prior to marriage date. It is at the sole discretion of the Pastor to marry a
couple after their coaching sessions. After receipt of certificate, contact the church office to
reserve a date for your wedding. Depending on coaching evaluation, couples may be referred for
more coaching to the Pastoral oversight team.
