Lab planning: MAA noted that they are hoping to complete the
researcher interviews in December. Once complete they will hold a
lab planning session with the users in mid-January.

8.1
Class C cost estimate review: Wally Mansell from Unitech
Construction Management presented the cost estimate for the
schematic design phase. There was a brief discussion on some of the
complexities and challenges of the project and highlighted the major
cost items. The estimate for the Phase 1 (pre Addition construction)
and Phase 3 (AMPEL renovation) can be expected in the next coming
days. He noted that UBC PT requested that the design and
construction contingencies be removed from the estimate as these
are typically carried separately.

Class C estimate cost for QMI Addition: $16,416,332
RL noted the construction budget is: $15,100,000
PAC noted that we haven’t been directed at this time to adjust the
design and would need direction to do so from UBC PT.
8.2
FFE: WM noted that UBC PT requested that the lab fit out be removed
from the Cost estimate. RL noted that it was believed That the lab fit
out was part of the construction budget. UBC PT to comment.

Sustainability: There will be a sustainability charrette for the project
held on Tuesday, December 10th at UBC. Doug Bonn will attend.

Chemical storage in labs: The users have been asked to provide a
list of chemicals and their volumes expected to be stored in the labs
on an annual basis. This will be required for building code and a gas
dispersion analysis. Doug Bonn and Warren Poole will collect the
information and issue to PAC.
