BUSINESS SYSTEMS MANAGER
General
Functional Unit: IT
Responsible to: Business Systems Director
Purpose of the job
The Business Systems Manager is responsible for the effective management of all IS/IT resources Physical,
Human and Financial. The role includes responsibility for 2 current sites in the West Midlands and all related
business systems, IT equipment, software, infra structure and service delivery within these Sites. In
addition, the Business Systems Manager will communicate within the Business Systems Management Team
including Middle East, Asia and Europe and will work within the global IS/IT Group.

LoneStar Fasteners Europe is a Premier Fastener and Gasket Solutions Provider.
Based in the West Midlands, UK – LSFE was formed through the alignment of 3 world class fasteners
businesses to become the Group’s European centre of excellence for the manufacture & distribution of
Special & Non-Standard Fasteners and Gaskets.
Accountabilities
1. Service Delivery and Implementation








Implement and maintain with the business all identified IS/IT service levels
Determining priorities and deliverables for IS/IT projects
To report on IS/IT service performance metrics and work with the IS/IT global teams to ensure that
appropriate service levels are maintained
Manage the implementation of IT/IS investment programs/projects and the delivery of existing infra
structure operations and service
Implementation of Company/Group IS/IT technical and operational policies
Implementation of Company/Group IS/IT mission and strategy
Support and assist the Business System Director to deliver global and local site projects
Deliver IT/IS global projects across sites
2. Service Development





Development of the IS/IT resources to ensure the key business strategic objectives are delivered
Ensuring adequate IT expertise is maintained within the Company, to guarantee that the Role
Holder in conjunction with the MD and/or Directors, is an “intelligent purchaser” of IT solutions
To advise Senior Stakeholders on the effective use of technology to enhance the business
Manage the review and evaluation of technology proposals
Development of business cases, technical content and audit reports for new investment proposals
3. Financials


Establish and agree the annual budget of IS/IT across both sites
Ensure areas of responsibility are delivered in a way that are consistent with the Business’s financial
plans and cost improvement plans.
4. Quality and Governance


Provide quality and assurance by operating the Quality Management System for IT, as well, as
ensuring that the system is consistent and globally defined
Maintain governance in relation to Information Security
5. Management & Leadership










Promote a common vision and ownership of the Business’s value and strategic objectives with all
external parties.
Ability to build, manage and maintain the relationship with IS/IT providers and functional
management
Ability to manage and market the image of the Business Systems Function and it’s mission
Provide leadership to the team
Motivating and challenging the 3 team members to be amongst the best performing at LSFE
Responsible for setting personal objectives and developing the team through training and coaching
Carry out regular team meetings and 1-1’s to ensure direct reports receive regular feedback on their
performance.
Ensure all staff performance reviews and interim reviews are carried out in a timely fashion.
Support the monitoring of holiday and sickness in line with Company policy.
Serve as an escalation point for staff performance issues, disciplinaries and grievances in line with
the company policies.
6. Key Relationships
Exercise accountability via:
CIO/Project Managers/IS Team Leaders:
 To ensure that IS/IT projects deliver the committed benefits
Epicor Competency Centre:
 To ensure that the Epicor Road Map is “fit for purpose” and meets the goals of reduced operating
costs and high service levels. To audit technical proposals, provide technical audit of new
investment proposals and ensure the local IS/IT departments are in line with Company/Group
strategies
Other Business Systems Managers:
 To ensure that IT services provided to these sites meet the agreed service levels for the business
and to work on remedial plans together should the service levels fail to meet the required standard
Local Managing Director’s:
 To ensure that local business requirements are taken in to account and those global projects are
communicated at the correct level
Specific characteristics
Knowledge &
Experience



It would be expected that a successful candidate would have at least 3 to 5 years
relevant experience
Ideally ITIL qualified but not essential
IS Budgetary and financial management






Good understanding of technical architectures, application and information
security
A good understanding of business process and technology to support ERP, after
market systems and shop floor systems
Proven project management skills
Business Analysis skills
Business process and technology evolution
Ability to program and project manage concurrently a large portfolio of IS
investment and change programs
Ability to build and identify IS/IT requirements in the support of business strategy
Gap Analysis and creative problem solving
Management of full lifecycle of technologies and service delivery processes
IS/IT service management
Proven track record of effective incident and development of resources



