Dear Parents,
We are sure that you are all waiting in excitement for
the return of your children tonight, from Green Camp,
scheduled for 9.30pm from the departure point.
For those who weren’t away on Green Camp—there
was a hugely exciting programme of exams for older
children, and individual activities for the younger ones.
Thank you to Miss Beata and Miss Faye and Mrs
McCready for this lovely week at school.
We have been delighted to welcome Katelyn from the USA as a volunteer in our nursery this
week. She has been a welcome addition to the crew and we hope she has been enjoying her time
as much as we have been enjoying having her. Katelyn will be with us for another couple of
weeks.
We draw your attention to the summer activity information below — Little GYM summer Camps,
Polish for Foreigners summer Camp by Jagiellonian University and Tennis Camp.
This evening there will be an informal PTA meeting in Massolit ,as we did last month. The idea is
to meet more regularly and less formally and we would particularly suggest that if you usually
don’t come to PTA events, please give it a try.
Next week, on 12 June, there will be a special charity dramatic presentation by a large group of
year 8 students, from the Arabian Nights, “Maruf the Cobbler”, in order to raise money for their
adopted charity, WWF. This will take place in the Dom Kultury on the Maly Rynek (details below).
The programme will be supported by special guest choir, The Dragons, accompanied by Miss
Faye on the piano and conducted by one of us (figuring out which one of us isn’t as hard as
splitting atoms). The Dragons will give a world premiere of a small work written specially for them.
Musical achievements among our community continue this weekend with Izabella (year 6) performing in the Krakow Philharmonic on Sunday with the music school choir. She will sing Carmina
Burana by Carl Orff in its original version. Those from the UK who remember the Old Spice aftershave advertisement with the surfer and the giant wave will know the piece…
We would like to note that on Thursday Mrs Peplinska led a very interesting presentation for some
YR11 parents about the Wallace Foundation. We have our fingers crossed that something can
come of this initiative.
In closing we would like to spare a thought for those members of our community who have been
affected by the floods in Central Europe. We have been lucky here this time, but we know that
some have had their other homes affected by the extreme weather.
We hope you will enjoy the weekend reunited with your children.
Stan and Lindsay
