ALTITUDE Staff will be offering a program that is designed
to exercise the students’ leadership, cooperation and
communication skills through activities that are both fun
and challenging!
REBECCA REWI
ALTITUDE Program Coordinator
Rebecca is a fourth-year English and Sociology student in
her second year with ALTITUDE. She is certified as a Level
2 Ropes Course Instructor through Adventureworks Inc.,
and plays as a member of McMaster's Varsity Women's
Basketball team.
JEFF WATSON
ALTITUDE Program Coordinator
Jeff has just completed his fourth year in Kinesiology and
is in his second year with ALTITUDE. He is a certified Level
2 Ropes Course Instructor through Adventureworks Inc.
Jeff was a member of McMaster's Varsity Men's Lacrosse
team, and this fall will be starting as the head strength
and conditioning coach and co-student athletic therapist
for the McMaster Men's Volleyball team.

Important reminder:
Participation in scheduled activities will be based on a ‘first
come, first served’ basis. There are 105 available spots. All
students and their parents/guardians must stay until the end
of the safety overview, regardless of whether or not they will
be participating in scheduled activities.
Note: All ALTITUDE activities will take place indoors in
CIBC Hall, MUSC 319.

BREAKOUT SESSIONS (CONTINUED)
MANDATORY PROGRAMMING
WANDA MCKENNA—DIRECTOR, HUMAN RESOURCES
(Mandatory Session)
Wanda will kick off the session by welcoming our visiting
students. She will talk about the wide range of occupations
that exist at McMaster University.
EDUCATION PROGRAM IN ANATOMY
Get a glimpse beneath the skin of the human body and
discover the internal structure of the organs and systems
that allow us to become who we are. Students will have
the opportunity to work with anatomical models and
specimens to develop an understanding of anatomy and
the organization of the human body into systems such as
the circulatory, gastrointestinal, nervous and
musculoskeletal systems.

For safety reasons, all students and their
parents/guardians must attend the program until
the end of the safety overview and complete the
registration form, regardless of whether they will

the scheduled activities. Participants will be chosen on a

CHRIS HURLEY—HEALTH & SAFETY SPECIALIST, HRS
(Mandatory Session)
Chris will provide the students with an overview of Health and
Safety procedures.
BREAKOUT SESSIONS
(maximum 15 registrants for each session; students will
participate in one breakout session only)
FACULTY OF ENGINEERING
Students who are interested in science and engineering can
experience first-hand what McMaster Engineering has to
offer! Students will take part in a tour of engineering
facilities, learn about McMaster’s rich selection of
engineering programs and be introduced to the fundamentals
of engineering. Participants will have the chance to speak
with current McMaster Engineering students who will provide
insight into their post-secondary education.
GOULD TRADING FLOOR
The Allen H. Gould Trading Floor is more than just another
educational experience. Its mission is to ignite a curiosity for
knowledge and self-development. Learn about the exciting
realities of today's financial services industry and the part it
plays in the new global economy. This hands-on session will
allow students to participate in mock-trading activities.
Parents/Guardians must pick-up their student(s) by 12
noon at MUSC 319 to continue the job shadowing portion
of the afternoon.

McMASTER HIGH PERFORMANCE LABORATORY
Come get your blood pumping at the new McMaster High
Performance Laboratory! Students will be given the
opportunity to learn how the heart, lungs and muscles
respond to exercise. They will also be introduced to
equipment used to determine body composition and get a
glimpse of how exercise can improve health.
McMASTER MUSEUM OF ART
A behind the scenes tour will show participants how the
University’s internationally recognized collection of more
than 7000 objects is stored, conserved and prepared for
exhibition. The tour will include a visit to the vaults and
state of the art Paper Centre, and a private viewing of
collection favourites.
MUSIC AND THE MIND
See how the Institute for Music and the Mind uses
methods such as linking where a baby looks with the
presentation of particular sounds in order to determine
how infants perceive and respond to music and speech.
Also, see how we can measure the brain’s response to
music using EEG.
W.J. McCALLION PLANETARIUM
The planetarium is a part of the Department of Physics and
Astronomy, and this presentation is made from the best
scientific evidence on hand. The session is geared toward
educating students about the Earth and its relationship to
the Solar System and the rest of the Universe. Emphasis is
on constellations and the planets in our Solar System.
Along the way, other fascinating objects inside and
outside of our own Galaxy are also shown if time permits.
