RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
2011- present Department of Meteorology, Stockholm University, Stockholm, Sweden
•
Performed sensitivity studies on a LES model in simulating a stratiform cloud event
and compare the model results with observations.
2005-2011
Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, University of Wisconsin, Madison, WI
Graduate Research Assistant
•
Researched on a technique in retrieving precipitation rates that can be applied to
passive microwave precipitation retrieval algorithms and constructed a Cloud
Dynamics and Radiation Database.
•
Performed statistical analyses on the database to investigate the degree to which the
variances of predicted ice and liquid water paths, and rain rates can be explained
using the dynamical information contained in the database.
Summer 2008 Satellite Application Facility on Support to Operation Hydrology and Water
Management (H-SAF), Istituto di Scienze dell’Atmosfera e del Clima (ISAC) of the
Italian Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR), Rome, Italy
Visiting Scientist
•
Implemented a cloud resolving model, the University of Wisconsin-Nonhydrostatic
Modeling System, at CNR-ISAC to generate a statistically significant Cloud
Dynamics and Radiation Database to be used within the H-SAF project and served as
an input to a physical-statistical Bayesian algorithm for precipitation retrieval from
microwave radiometers.
