Center from 9:00
AM to 3 PM.
Morning
•
Guest speaker Charles Yun, Program Manager for Science and Engineering for Internet2, will discuss the ways advanced networking is
being used to enhance research and learning.
•
Guest speaker Jennifer MacDougall, Applications Coordinator for
MAGPI, will demonstrate the NJIT Access Grid, which will allow for
multi-site video conferencing.

What is Internet2?
Internet2 is a bigger, stronger,
and faster version of today’s
Internet. Designed for research,
Internet2 allows for multi-point
video conferencing, remote instrumentation, large database sharing,
and advanced distance collaboration.
Internet2 will enhance teaching,
learning, research and help
establish timely communication
between academic institutions.
What is Internet2
Day at NJIT?
It is a day designed to increase
faculty awareness of the
capabilities of Internet2 and to
showcase some ways it is already
being used by educational
institutions across the United
States.

The Internet2 Commons: A service dedicated to connecting research
institutions to one another using multi-site conferencing tools.

The Research Channel: A forum where visitors can get an in-depth
look at today’s cutting edge technology development.

VRML Demo: Create “virtual worlds” networked via the Internet for
advanced interactive simulation.

Video Conferencing Basics: Learn exactly what is needed to video
conference with your colleagues.
•
Internet2's K20 Initiative: Bringing innovators in K-12, community
colleges, universities, libraries, and museums onboard Internet2.
