JOB TITLE: KFC CERTIFICATION SCHEME AUDITOR REPORTING LINES: CLOSING DATE: KFC HEAD OF COMPLIANCE & DEPUTY CEO 11TH AUGUST 2015 KFC BACKGROUND: Kenya Flower Council (KFC) is a voluntary association of independent growers and exporters of cut‐flowers and ornamentals, formed in 1996, with the aim of fostering responsible and safe production of cut flowers in Kenya with due consideration of workers welfare and protection of the environment. The Council administers sustainability through an internationally accredited KFC Flowers & Ornamentals Sustainability Standard covering the aspects of good agricultural practice, sustainability, social accountability and workers welfare, hygiene health and safety, capacity building, environmental protection and conservation. As of July 2015, KFC had a producer membership of 94 flower farms situated throughout the country. The current KFC membership represents about 70% – 75% of the flowers exported from Kenya. Associate membership stands at 62 members representing major Cut Flower Auctions and Distributors in UK, Holland, Switzerland, Germany and Kenya. Associate members are involved in the flower sector through flower imports, provision of farm inputs and other affiliated services.
JOB PURPOSE: To contribute to the development, management, and implementation of KFC Standards and principles through certification audits and related tasks.
SPECIFIC TASKS: The key roles and tasks for the Auditors are: 1. Carry out farm audits to assess compliance with the KFC standard. 2. Produce timely and accurate reports on such inspections in accordance with ISO 17065, KFC auditing procedures and GLOBALG.A.P timelines and system requirements. 3. To maintain up date files of all quality policies, procedures, work instructions, and documentation required by The Kenya Flower Council. 4. To keep abreast of developments, issues and legislative changes pertaining to the scope in which audits are carried out. 5. Participate in the KFC Standards and Quality System Regulations development, implementation, and maintenance. 6. Conduct KFC QMS annual internal audits alongside ISO/IEC 17065 checklist as may be assigned by the CEO. 7. KFC and GlobalGAP Database management. 8. Participate in the revision of the KFC standard and QMS to meet the required standards and as new issues arise. 9. Preparation of farm audit schedules and communication to the members as required. 10. The auditor must observe the producers and The Kenya Flower Council procedures and maintain the confidentiality of the information and records. 11. The auditors shall apply and adhere to the KFC procedures as applicable; including the auditing and certification procedures without any and bias and favour to the producer or his / her appointed agents. 12. Monitoring the use of logo for the KFC and applicable partners. 13. Ensuring that the certificates have been prepared, signed by appointed authorities, and sent to the producers in a timely manner. 14. Ensuring that companies that are awarded certificates have received the respective certificates in time. 15. Prepare audit reports and records for the Certification Committee as per KFC Procedures. 16. Responsible for maintaining the integrity of the KFC Certification Scheme. 17. To carry out any other tasks as assigned. TRAINING & EXPERIENCE: Experience: ‐ A minimum of 3 years post graduate experience in the Floriculture Industry. ‐ Auditing experience in the fields of social, environmental, safety health & safety, and GAP. ‐ With at least 20 audits participation in the said fields. Education and training courses: ‐ Must at least have a Bachelor of Science in Horticulture or a Diploma in Horticulture or a related field. ‐ Must have Computer knowledge and experience in MS Office Language and communication: ‐ Must have excellent oral and written communication skills in English as well as understand and speak Kiswahili. Other attributes: ‐ Must uphold honesty, integrity and transparency ‐ Strong motivation for the sustainability agenda. ‐ Independent solution finder. ‐ Must be capable of working without supervision. ‐ Must be capable of working and delivering under pressure. ‐ Must be team player withability in dealing with different cultures.
