Welcome Week for Transfer Students
August 22-30, 2015
Greetings from the Dean of Students
We are excited that you made the choice to join the Bridgewater College community as a transfer student! Your Welcome Week experience will begin on Saturday, August 22. Although I know that you are not new to college, you are new to our campus community. The
Transfer Welcome Week schedule was designed specifically with your needs in mind. We want to make sure you are familiar with the
Bridgewater College experience. We encourage you to take advantage of as many opportunities as you can and make the best possible
start to your journey at Bridgewater.
Is it sustainable? This is the Big Question for the 2015-2016 academic year and a great question to begin your journey at Bridgewater
College. With the start of a new journey, it’s important to evaluate how sustainable your actions are. Are your study habits sustainable? Are
your sleep habits sustainable? Is the residence hall contract you signed sustainable? You’ll start contemplating questions like these during
Welcome Week.
If you have questions or need any assistance prior to August 22, please contact us at studentlife@bridgewater.edu or call 540-828-5380. I
look forward to meeting each of you when you arrive on campus and wish you much success as you embark upon your college career at
Bridgewater College. Go Eagles!

will be guiding you through Welcome Week and are an invaluable

BRIDGEWATER COLLEGE
What are convocations?
Programs that bring the campus community together at least twice a week to address important social issues. Convocations often
focus on topics connected to the Big Question (a campus-wide theme for the year) and include films, speakers, presentations, musical
and cultural events and travel experiences. Because we want all Bridgewater students to become academic citizens—fully engaged
members of the community—you’re required to attend seven convocations per semester. But here’s the thing: you’ll want to attend
even more, because you won’t want to be left out of the conversations going on around you. What does all this mean for you? You’ll
become a more interesting person, a more valuable employee and a greater contributor to your community and society as a whole.
Below is a list of this year’s Orientation Leaders. We can’t wait to see you when you arrive on
campus!
