ACADEMIC DISHONESTY:
No cheating will be tolerated. Any student caught cheating will receive an F for the course and a letter will be sent to the appropriate
dean. Working with your classmates on homework is NOT considered cheating, but copying answers from any source is considered
cheating. Giving or receiving unauthorized aid on exams or quizzes would be considered cheating. For more information please see:

This syllabus may be changed at any time for any reason. All syllabus changes will be announced in class.
It is the responsibility of students with certified disabilities to provide the instructor with appropriate documentation from the

Students are responsible for meeting all university deadlines (registration, fee payment, prerequisite verification,
drop deadlines, etc). See the printed Schedule of Classes and/or University Catalog for policies and dates.
ATTENDANCE:
Attendance will not be taken in class, but it is very important for regular attendance. Students will be responsible for all information
given in class, regardless of his/her attendance. This includes exam dates, quiz information, and homework assignments. If you miss
a class it is important you learn all of the important information you missed. Exchange phone numbers/email addresses with several
members of your class so that you have multiple sources of information in case of a personal emergency, or you can contact me
through email.
CLASSROOM ETIQUETTE:
Appropriate and collegiate behavior is expected of all students taking this course. Arrive to class promptly and do not leave until the
scheduled ending time of class. If you must arrive late or leave early, please do so as discretely as possible and take a seat near the
door. TURN OFF ALL NON-MEDICAL ELECTRONIC DEVICES (CELL PHONES, MP3 PLAYERS, ETC.), calculators are the
only non-medical electronic devices allowed. Do not read the newspaper or work on unrelated assignments during class time, do these
activities elsewhere. Eating and drinking are okay in class as long as it can be done quietly.
EXAM ETIQUETTE:
- All students are expected to be respectful of their fellow students. This means to be quiet during the exam.
- Have only the exam, pencil/pen, eraser and calculator out during the exam. No scratch paper is permitted.
- Handling ANY non-medical devices other than a calculator will be considered cheating and the student will receive a zero for the
exam.
- Do not wear hats or caps during the exam.
HOMEWORK:
Homework will usually be assigned each class period. Unless otherwise stated, all homework will be due at the beginning of the next
class period. NO LATE HOMEWORK WILL BE ACCEPTED for any reason. A grade of zero will be assigned to any homework
assignment not turned in when class begins. At the end of the semester the 4 lowest homework grades will be dropped. If you know
that you will miss a class period you may turn you homework in early to me personally. Emailed homework will not be accepted.
When turning in homework please use blue or black pens or pencil. If the assignment is on multiple pages then STAPLE your pages
together, if pages are not stapled together then only the first page of the assignment will be graded. If you tear your homework out of
a spiral notebook, cut off the ragged edge of the page. Please write clearly, if the grader can not read your work it will not be graded.
Write all problems in numerical order, if the grader can not finding a problem to grade it will not be graded.
DROP PLOICY:
If the student wishes to drop this class, it is his/her responsibility to formally withdraw from the course. The student may do so
through the Registrar’s Office after obtaining the necessary signatures. Consents to withdraw and all necessary signatures may be
obtained in the Math Department Office, GAB 435
TEXAS SUCCESS INITIATIVE
Detach the Texas Success Initiative Math Remediation Contract below.
Sign and deliver to the PAR office, Stovall Hall 117 by the first Friday of classes.
If you failed the math section of the THEA (formerly named TASP), you are enrolled in Math 1010 as a condition of your enrollment
to satisfy the Texas Success Initiative at UNT. You are required to be in some form of math remediation every semester you are
enrolled until you have completed the TSI. You may complete the TSI by passing the THEA test or by passing Math1010.
ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY: You are allowed no more than six (6) absences for classes meeting 3 days a week, four (4)
absences for classes meeting 2 days a week, and two (2) absences for classes meeting once a week.
SUPPLEMENTAL TUTORING (ST) SESSIONS: Twelve (12) sessions are required with six (6) Supplemental Tutoring sessions
attended before mid-term. Be sure you sign-in with the ST instructor. ST instructor schedules may be found at www.unt.edu/lc.
CONSEQUENCES: Students who exceed the allowed absences and/or do not attend twelve (12) ST sessions will be required to
repeat Math1010 the following semester.
When you pass Math1010, you may enroll in Math1100, College Algebra. If you are required to retake THEA, it is suggested that
you test while you are enrolled in College Algebra.

I understand that I must participate in Math Remediation every semester that I am enrolled at UNT until I have completed the Texas
Success Initiative.
I understand that I will be required to re-enroll in Math 1010 for exceeding the allowed number of absences and/or not attending
required Supplemental Tutoring sessions.
I plan to attend class and take advantage of the extra tutoring with the Supplemental Tutor.
