I.
Introduction
Accelerated programs (in which students receive two degrees, one undergraduate and one graduate,
upon program completion) provide tangible benefits to eligible students. In the accelerated programs
students
•
Are exposed to rigorous graduate-level courses
•
Are engaged with faculty mentors
•
Participate in research opportunities as an undergraduate
II.
Eligibility
Students may be admitted into an accelerated program by the Office of Enrollment Management upon
admission on the basis of high-school records and TSAT scores or as matriculated students, by the
college or school on the basis of meeting the established criteria both within their college/school and
the Office of Graduate Studies. In order to continue in the program, students are subject to the
standards and policies of the Office of Graduate Studies and their college/school.
III.
Admission Information
Students can be admitted to an accelerated degree program in one of two ways:
1.
Provisional Admission of a New, Incoming Freshman
Provisional admission into an accelerated program by the Office of Enrollment Management is based on
students’ timely application to an accelerated degree program by December 1st of the application year –
prior to matriculation in fall of the subsequent year – and academic profile (including High School GPA
and TSAT). Admission is considered provisional until students achieve 90 – 120 credits at which time
their academic performance and program progression will be evaluated against college/school and
Office of Graduate Studies criteria. Students are encouraged to review these criteria with their advisors.
With the exception of those students admitted into the LeBow College of Business*:
•
Students who successfully meet the University’s standards for selection and are provisionally
admitted by the Office of Enrollment Management will be considered candidates for the
program as long as they maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 and until they have
reached no less than 90 credits and no more than 120 credits.
•
Upon achieving 90 – 120 credits it is the student’s responsibility to coordinate with his / her
advisor to complete the Accelerated Degree Program Application.

•
2.
Provided the student meets the established GPA standard for program participation (usually a
minimum of 3.00) and any other requirements established by the college/school at the time of
his/her provisional admission, the candidate's application will be advanced by the college/school
to the Office of Graduate Studies for confirmation that the candidate can continue in the
program.
Provisional Admission of Matriculated Students
Matriculated students may apply for provisional admission into an accelerated program in those
programs for which such provision is allowable, according to guidelines established by the
college/school. Students who apply and meet the eligibility requirements of the college/school will be
considered provisionally admitted. With the exception of those students seeking admission into the
LeBow College of Business*:
Student applications will be
reviewed to ensure that students meet both the cumulative GPA and major/program GPA
standards.
•
Provided the student meets the established GPA standard for program participation (usually a
minimum of 3.00) and any other requirements established by the college/school at the time of
his/her provisional admission, the candidate's application will be advanced by the college/school
to the Office of Graduate Studies for confirmation that the candidate can continue in the
program.
* Lebow College of Business
LeBow College of Business
Students provisionally admitted into the LeBow College of Business accelerated programs by the Office
of Enrollment Management must verify their intent to continue in the program with their advisor by the
end of the spring term of their freshman year.
Matriculated (continuing) students seeking admission to the LeBow College of Business accelerated
programs must verify their intent to participate in the accelerated program by the end of the spring
term in their first year of their freshman year.
As with their counterparts in other colleges, it is the student’s responsibility to coordinate with his / her
advisor to complete the Accelerated Degree Program Application.

of 3.00) and any other requirements established by the college/school at the time of his/her provisional
admission, the candidate's application will be advanced by the college/school to the Office of Graduate
Studies for confirmation that the candidate can continue in the program.
IV.
Program Progression
Once the Office of Graduate Studies has officially accepted the student into an accelerated program, he
or she will progress according to the program plan established (while maintaining the GPA requirements
for continued participation) for his or her designated accelerated program in the college/school as
provided by the three options indicated below. These options establish the program plan for a student’s
reasonable progress in the accelerated program as well as the timeline for the accelerated program
participant's conversion to graduate status.
The three program plans are:
A.
4 COP Accelerated Program
Students in the 4 COP Accelerated Program will progress according to the program plan established for
the 4-year with coop undergraduate (or 4COP) program; it includes one 6-month cooperative education
experience. Students in the 4COP accelerated program will maintain undergraduate status in the first
four years of study, and convert to graduate status at the end of the spring term in the fourth (senior)
year. Depending on the degree program, students in the 4COP program can have 1, 2 or 3 years of
graduate status, (the 4COP +1), (the 4COP + 2) or (the 4COP + 3) programs respectively.
B.
5 COP Accelerated Program
Students in the 5COP accelerated program will progress according to the program plan established for
the 5-year with coop undergraduate (or 5COP) program and maintain undergraduate status
throughout. The 5COP program includes three 6-month cooperative education cycles.
C.
3 Year 4COP Accelerated Program
Students in the 3 year 4COP accelerated programs will progress according to the program plan
established for the 4COP program for the first three years of study. The 3-year 4COP program of study
includes one 6-month cooperative education experience. Participants in the in the 3 year 4COP program
will maintain undergraduate status in the first three years of study and convert to graduate status at the
end of the spring term, in the third year of study. Students in this program can have 1, 2 or 3 years of
graduate status, (the 3COP +1), (the 3COP + 2) or (the 3COP + 3) programs respectively.

V.
Financial Aid and Billing
It is important to note that upon conversion to graduate status the student will be billed on a per credit
basis as a graduate student, and will no longer be eligible for undergraduate level aid, including federal
and institutional aid. For this reason, the Office of Graduate Studies will require that students explore
the billing and financial aid impacts of the conversion to graduate status.
VI.
Additional Stipulations
Students are required to fulfill the cooperative education experience(s) established by their program of
study. Should a student appeal to waive a coop experience, and should that petition be granted, the
student will be required to meet with a representative from Drexel Central to discuss any impact to
billing.
VII.
Course Registration and Plan of Study
Programs should be designed to limit the number of undergraduate courses completed during the
graduate portion of an accelerated program. During this portion of a program, courses not at the senior
level will require permission of the Office of Graduate Studies.
VIII. Transcripts
Courses completed while a student is coded as an undergraduate student, irrespective of course level,
will appear on an undergraduate transcript and be computed in an undergraduate grade point average.

Degree Conferral
Where required by the graduate or professional degree program, bachelor’s degrees can be conferred
when students ascend to the graduate/professional level before the end of their accelerated programs
provided all requirements for the designated undergraduate program have been satisfied. In all other
cases, both degrees will be conferred upon completion of the entire accelerated program and
completion of requirement for both programs.
Students who do not complete the entire accelerated program are required to complete all
requirements for their undergraduate program before the bachelor’s degree will be awarded. Billing,
financial aid and cooperative education impacts if any, should be explored when making the decision to
forgo the graduate degree in the accelerated program.
