D-MAVT: Mechanical Engineering, Micro and Nanosystems
Program regulations 2010, Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering
- Students are required to take general curriculum courses from the compulsory elective program
of the Department of Humanities, Social and Political Sciences (D-GESS).
- Students must acquire 6 ECTS points from the D-GESS compulsory elective program.
- Each D-GESS course is formally assessed.
Program regulations 2005, Master in Mechanical Engineering
- Students can select any multidisciplinary courses from the programs of ETHZ, EPFL, UZH and
the University of St Gallen (6 ECTS points).
- D-GESS compulsory electives: Students must choose general education modules from the DGESS compulsory elective program (2 ECTS points).
- Each multidisciplinary and D-GESS course is formally assessed.
Program regulations 2010, Master in Micro and Nanosystems
- In general, courses and course assessments are held in English.
- D-GESS compulsory electives: Students must choose general education courses from the DGESS compulsory elective program (2 ECTS points).
- Students can choose any multidisciplinary courses from the programs of ETHZ, EPFL, UZH, and
the University of St Gallen (6 ECTS points).
- Each multidisciplinary and D-GESS course is formally assessed.

- D-GESS compulsory electives: Students must choose general education modules from the DGESS compulsory elective program (2 ECTS points)
- In general, courses and course assessments are held in English.
- Courses from the D-GESS program, which students may choose according to their interests, are
designed to complement students’ subject-specific education.
- Each multidisciplinary and D-GESS course is formally assessed.
Program regulations 2010, Master in Nuclear Engineering
- In general, courses and course assessments are held in English.
- Electives give students an opportunity to deepen and/or broaden their knowledge in economics
and the humanities. Students may select courses from the programs offered at Master level at
ETHZ and EPFL.

PhD in D-MAVT
- PhD students must acquire at least a third of their total ECTS points from outside of their research
area.
ECTS points for language courses at ETHZ and UZH are accredited on receipt of a certificate.
