BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION
CAREER INFORMATION
Business Administration is a study in learning to set organizational goals and formulating procedures to
achieve them. To carry out their administrative roles, managers must be able to handle such duties as
preparing and administering budgets, monitoring operations, and formulating policies and procedures.
Students who choose business administration as their major will become acquainted with management
principles and will be able to apply them to specific business areas such as production/operation,
finance, human resource management/industrial relations. Academic coursework includes business
statistics, investments, management science, human resource management, principles of real estate to
name a few. Graduate study is not a requirement for entry-level positions in business. A few career
opportunities in this field of study are operations manager, human resource assistant, production
manager and real estate broker. Salaries vary widely depending on which career path you choose.
Lower-level managers with bachelor of science degrees can expect to earn $30,000 to $50,000. Middle
management staff with bachelor’s or master’s degrees in health care administration can earn anywhere
from $60,000 to $90,000.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Not all universities with this major are listed below. The lower division core preparation is listed for
universities with which LBCC has established articulation agreements. As requirements do change,
please check WWW.ASSIST.ORG for the most current articulation information. Moreover, you must see
a counselor to develop an accurate educational plan to ensure your competitiveness for admissions
for your school(s) of choice. To thoroughly understand admissions and general education requirements
please check the catalog of the transfer university. CSU/UC admissions and general education
