I. Speakers: i. John McNutt – Connections among Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Earth

Science in Applied Sciences and Engineering

II. Report Outs: i. Syllabus: i. Renee Becker went over the syllabus template and answered questions from her peers. (syllabus template below) ii. Assessment: i. Angelica Vagle- look below for her power point presentation. iii. Faculty Senate i. Melissa Schreiber - LDR architect was approved for the new A & E building. Valencia’s tuition will go up by 4%, $12 for a three hour credit course. There will be a 1.87% step increase for all employees and an additional 2% cost of living increase for full time faculty. East campus human resources is in building 7-110A.

At the end of July sending mass communication through Atlas will be discontinued. All mass email communication will only be available in

Blackboard. ii. There may be a future requirement for quality matters in online teaching and learning. The issue is quality matters looks at the structure of the course and not the content. iii. The new classroom observation form has been approved and will be used starting in January 2015. iv. What should we do with TVCA? Should we keep it, get rid of it, or change it? v. We should be getting new phones soon.

III. Updates: i. Lab Requirements: i. The department will not allow for a student to be registered for a class once the lab has met for the first time. ii. Lose “My Courses tab” for fall in Atlas i. Look for onsite and virtual training session. The next onsite training for

East Campus is 7/3/14 from 1pm-2pm in 4-133. There will be webinars in

July. Lynn will send you the link and times. iii. BSC 1010C: Fundamentals of Biology (BSC 1010C) is now a state requirement for all psychology majors who plan to transfer to a 4 year institution in Florida. iv. Chemistry: Lynn will email all chemistry professor’s information on the requirements needed to be accepted into UCF organic chemistry courses. v. ILP posters for Welcome Back: Volunteers are needed vi. LSAMP Internship: Lynn will send all faculty information to announce to their students in class. vii. Safety training: Safety training will now be completed online.

viii. Mentorship: Lynn will be assigning full time faculty to mentor 2-3 adjunct professors during the 2014/2015 year.

IV. Future Dates: i. Summer Camp July 21-25 ii. Grades due July 31 iii. Syllabus by August 1 iv. Outback Steakhouse August 18 at 5:30 to celebrate new tenured faculty and greet new full time faculty v. Faculty 1 st day is August 19 vi. East campus Welcome Back will be August 20 vii. Welcome back for adjunct faculty is August 20 at 5:30pm viii. Academic Assembly will be August 21 ix. First day of classes is August 25
