FCCLA hosts Hornet Biggest Loser to focus on healthy living
Starting on Feb. 8, FCCLA
member, Jamie Klier, was
in charge of the Hornet
Biggest Loser. The competition will last until March
26. Hornet Biggest Loser is
a mock of the show, Biggest
Loser (Produced by ABC).
Students were handed out
numbers upon registration.
This way, their identity will
be kept secret. The weigh-in
will be in private and the only
people to see the weights will
be FCCLA sponsor, Susanna
Franklin, and the participant.
To win, the winner will have
to lose the largest percentage of weight rather than
total number of pounds lost.
For any questions, please
contact Jamie Klier or Mrs.
Franklin.
As another part of her
competition, Jamie will be
hosting a Health fair at both
local elementary schools.
The health fair will consist
of inspiring nutritious speaking, making trail mix where
the students decide what will
go into their own bags, and
several games that promote
good health care.
A cooking competition
named The Gourmet Hornet
will also be added as part of
Jamie’s saga of health ideas.
Groups of two or three are allowed to compete. However,
the food item of choice must
be healthy. They will present
the dish in front of several
unknown judges. Each dish
will be labeled with a number that corresponds with
each contestant.
The winners of each competition will receive prizes
in accordance with their
contest. If you have any
questions about any of this
information, please contact either Jamie Klier or
Susanna Franklin.
FFA members attend workshops, plan labor auction Feb. 22
By Betty Manners
In January, some of the chapter members of FFA attended the Stand and Deliver speech
workshop. This workshop deals with the teachings of students on how to write, prepare, and
memorize their speeches, as well as many other speech related skills.
During the month of February, FFA will be hosting their annual Labor Auction. The Labor
Auction is a fun gathering of people for a barbeque dinner while they auction off the FFA
students for 8 hours of labor. The money the student brings in goes toward the chapter’s
funding. This year’s Auction will be held at Vinita High School on Feb. 22.

the Ag Boosters club to buy a truck to be used by the local chapter. If you have any questions
please feel free to contact Ag instructor Shane Emberson. Also, FFA is looking for any parent or teacher volunteers to sponsor this event. If you are interested contact Emberson.
