2015 BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT INTERNSHIP
NW Documentary seeks a Business Development Intern to ensure success of the
organization’s year-end fundraising, events and community outreach. This position will
give hands-on experience in nonprofit fundraising, communications and public relations.
This is an excellent opportunity for a someone with good planning, communication and
outreach skills who wants to be directly involved in the growth and success of a small
media arts non-profit.
Duties will fall into the following categories: Campaign administration, Outreach and
Public Relations, Events and Donor development.
Key Duties:
Fundraising
• Assist staff with donation appeals and targeted campaigns
• Events planning and coordination
• Corporate sponsorship solicitation
Outreach & Public Relations
• Coordinate outreach activities for donor retention and continued Alumni
involvement
• E-newsletter preparation, social media engagement, campaigns and website
updates
• Prepare press releases, create and maintain contact lists and update public
calendar
Administrative
• Maintain and streamline information gathering/filing systems
• Compile grant applications and report materials, ensure submission
• Data entry and updating of Salesforce records
Qualified Candidate will be:
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Skilled in problem solving, prioritizing, and decision-making.
• Experienced in face-to-face and online networking.
• Demonstrated experience in fundraising, community outreach or public relations
• Self-motivated and takes initiative on projects
• Outgoing and able to build good rapport with people from variety of backgrounds
• Experienced in Salesforce or similar CRM systems
Internship Details
Time Commitment: 15-20 hours per week, February through December 2015. Work
schedule is flexible with most hours falling M-F 10-6pm.
Compensation: This is an unpaid internship that offers a chance to improve and establish
development and outreach initiatives that will make a big impact on a small organization.
The right candidate has opportunity to grow into a paid position. Intern will be given the
equivalent of $60/month in transportation expenses and free membership to NW
Documentary.
