WHAT IS SLC?
SLC (or Students’ Legislative Council) takes place on Tuesdays at 6:30 PM, biweekly in the Spring and Summer semester and weekly during Fall and Winter.
Attending SLC is one of the most important jobs as an Elected Official with the
Students’ Union. Make sure you keep your calendar clear on Tuesday nights.
SLC is made up of 24 student representatives, who are elected each year by undergraduate students
in the SU General Election.
There are FIVE executives: President, VP Academic, VP External, VP Operations and Finance, and
VP Student Life.
These are elected by all undergraduate students.There are 19 Faculty Representatives, elected by
students in each undergraduate faculty. Some faculties have more than one representative, based off
their enrolment (more students = more representatives)
SLC is the main
governing body of the
Students’ Union.
It also makes all decisions
pertaining to the structure
of the SU including:
It exists to
represent student
interests and
concerns, and makes
decisions such as:
Bylaws
Policies
Strategic Direction
How to vote on
tuition increases
The SU’s stance on
market modifiers
How or should the
SU amend its own
bylaws, etc.
SLC is open to the public. You are welcome to sit in the gallery at SLC meetings, and it’s a great way
to help understand how it and the SU operate.
All past SLC minutes are available online. You can read what was discussed, and how certain issues
were voted on.

Nomination Packages are available in the SU Office and online starting January 25.
Nomination Days are February 8-10 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.
