Homework – Week of 9/5-9/12
12th Grade Homework:
Monday – 9/8: Using examples and notes from class, students will analyze Sonnet 13. They
should answer the following questions while analyzing poem:
1. What is the theme of the sonnet?
2. What is the speaker asking the subject to do?
3. Try identifying the sonnet’s hypothesis, thesis, and resolution.
Tuesday – 9/9: Students will analyze Sonnet 33. They should answer the following
questions while analyzing poem:
1. What is the tone of the sonnet?
2. How might it differ from the previous sonnets we’ve read?
3. Try identifying the sonnet’s hypothesis, thesis, and resolution.
Wednesday – 9/10: Research another poet that utilized the sonnet form to write poems.
Bring in one of their sonnets to share with the class.
Thursday – 9/11: Complete questions 8 and 9 from class. The questions are opinion, but
should relate to the sonnet. Give a paragraph for each.
Friday – 9/12: Using any other sonnet we’ve covered, write an essay using today’s handout.
