Short Answer: For the following questions, answer them in few sentences.
(This is just one opinion about each topic)
Was the colonization of Nigeria a good thing or a bad thing for Nigeria? Why?
The colonization of Nigeria was a bad thing because even though it benefited in many
areas such as education and agriculture, it destroyed Nigeria’s culture. A country
without a culture would not be considered a country. This would damage Nigeria’s
reputation as well as its ability to develop the country. It will take time to restore and
find their own culture.
Do you think colonialism and imperialism are right things to do? Why or why not?
No, colonialism and imperialism is using a greater power to change another country and
this is in a way a form of bullying. The powerful nations take over and influence other
countries for their own benefit. Even though they can improve other countries, they
eventually end up ruining the country and just gaining profit for their own.
What do you think about Great Britain’s actions?
Great Britain’s actions were very self-centered. It was only for the benefit of them; they
sent people and used force to get what they want. For example, they took control over
India just to get the resources and trade routes for their own benefit. Those belonged to
India but Great Britain just took them away using force. They only think about
themselves and do whatever it takes to get what they want.

the government compound and fetching wood for the white Commissioner and the court
messengers.” Chp20. pg 175 line# 1-4
The white men tortured and used violence toward the Nigerians. The consequences of
the colonization of Nigeria were very negative to Nigeria. People were living harsh life
under Great Britain.

had cut the anklet of his titles and cast it away to join the Christians.” Chp20. pg 174
line# 4-7
Even the people who truthfully practiced the Nigerian culture had changed and started
following the western way of living. Even a man who was very loyal to the country
threw away his loyalty without hesitation and supported Christianity.
